I guess it's good that there's a 5 hours limit to time-travel because some wizards can abuse the Time-Turner if they can go back anytime they want to.

There's a "time" on the Time-Turner so once they time-travel, it'll start timing. Remember it makes a ticking sound when they go back to the past.

They showed it in the movie. Skip to 1:36. Also throughout the entire scene, you can hear the faint tick tock of the Time-Turner.
