Remus is Harry's "uncle". He's been there when Harry was a baby.

Sadly Harry doesn't remember any of it because he was a baby when his parents died and the Marauders dispersed once Peter's betrayal happened. So Harry was left with the Dursleys and grew up there.

Yeah and it's tragic that he didn't have any memory of them..

That's why he was also desperate to learn more about his parents and that's why he believed that Patronus was of his father. He just wants something to remind/remember them in any way he can.
