The first chapters of OotP is online now! Umbridge's backstory is what you'd expect. Unhappy childhood, resentful to her muggle-born mother. She had a squib as a brother which I think is fascinating!

Very interesting tidbits about Umbridge. She's not really likeable and JKR meant to write her that way too. It didn't help that her family was divided too (she with her father, her mother/brother together). The attitude at the Ministry towards her seems frosty too. I get the vibe that while she is what she is, people do not question her anyway and just let her be.

I'm going through the new chapters of OotP now. I'm at Chapter 7: The Ministry of Magic. I have a feeling I'll be done before I know it and will wait for the rest of the chapters to open again.

So far I like this chapter.

I'm currently reading new stuff about the Ministers for Magic and JKR has listed all those who have been in the post before Shacklebolt and there are a lot!

Also Chapter 4: Grimmauld Place has some muggle music playing. Love it.

ETA: That was short. Isn't OotP a long book?

New backstory about Cokeworth - the place where Snape, Lily and Petunia grew up!
