It's very understandable the hurt and pain Harry is going through, and it's coming to head as Voldermort makes his presence more of a pain and neck. I wish more could have been done about the outright abuse Ulbridge was doing to the kids, and in particular of Harry.

It was clear torment. I know what they message was that they were sending with the rule, but it was horrible to read what Harry was going through and only Hermoine notices, and yet they don't do anything about it...

Poor Harry!

I agree. It was horrible what she was doing and this was the book that everyone should really loathe Umbridge. And Harry doesn't deserve all this crap anymore since he already has a lot to deal with. :(

Thanks for the new thread!

You're welcome. :)

I hate this book because of Sirius' death. I wasn't expecting it. But at the same time I enjoyed it because of Dumbledore's Army.

Do you ever think that Sirius would die or not?

Jasper1975 11-25-2017 08:56 PM

I know the series was getting up there, and Rowlings probably figured it was time to really start to see the deadly consequences of what was happening in Harry's growing up. And show that he couldn't find peace...

The movie I think was the weakest of the book to movie transferrance because so much had to be cut out. And while they told Harry's story about his abuse at the hands of Umbridge. Still you lost how important that year and the OWLs were to their future.

Harry couldn't find any peace. People he looked up to, kept dying.

^ I think that bec Harry have bad childhood, he went through back and forth in hell during all those years of Hogwarts, but I think that he did find the peace after the war, but def miss people he lost..

Jasper1975 11-26-2017 05:44 PM

Oh, at the end he did find peace or enough to make a way out there into life... He had come to terms, defeated Voldermort and avenged his parents murder and his own attempted murder and all those they lost in the journey to the end...

But I think they needed to sacrifice Sirius and Dumbledore to get Harry to the point, where he is at the brink and he has to fight with everything he has because it's now or never. It had come to a no way out.

Order of Phoenix starts to really show the consequences to everyone. Voldermort was back. And will take no prisoners.

Before they wanted to believe this was all in Dumbledore head that he was upset he was fooled by Tom Riddle, and allowed this boy the schooling of Hogwarts to be as powerful as he was... And that Harry was lying because of his loyalty to Dumbledore... Now, they had to face it.

So much was left out of Order of Phoenix movie. What was needed, stayed. But still things that showed they growing up and learning new things was left out and you would not know it unless you knew the source material.

I agree. I liked the movies overall but OotP is probably my least favorite because, like you said, a huge chunk of the book was cut off (same with GoF). I also think we were getting used to another directing style. We've had the 4th (and last director) for these HP movies with David Yates at the helm on this one. I noticed that the last 4 movies had a more quiet tone as opposed to PoA and GoF where the tone was more crazy. I liked Christopher Columbus' directing style for PS/SS and CoS but obviously he can't do all movies and new directors mean new approach to the movies.

I also agree with you that in letting Sirius die, it gives Harry another perspective of losing a 'family member' at this point in his life. He was always meant to have a tragic life. That somehow it will get worse before it gets all better.

^ OotP as the book or the movie??

Yeah, I agree about the sacrifice Sirius and Dumbledore to get him to fight the war..

L i N d $ @ y 11-27-2017 08:44 PM

OotP movie as my least favorite movie as well as the book as well. Don't get me wrong, I love all the books but OotP was just okay for me. I loved the other books more.

Still an unforgettable book though especially because of the death of Sirius. :(

fly me to the moon 11-29-2017 07:22 PM

At least I already know how he passed..

L i N d $ @ y 11-29-2017 09:38 PM

Ah so you already knew Sirius was going to die prior to seeing the movie?
