Leos{H♥G}:"She's watched him since he was young, she understands how normal he is"-BW

~ Welcome to the Official Leo Thread Everyone ~
Home of Harry and Ginny Potter. As well as their three beautiful children James, Albus and Lily.

We think that 'Leo' (the astrological sign of the lion) is a great representation of Harry and Ginny and here's why:
~ Both are Leos: Harry was born on July 31st and Ginny was born on Aug 11th
~ Both are Gryffindor students (Lions) and quidditch team members
~ Both have fiery spirits that seem to complement each other perfectly
~"They're both very strong and very passionate. That's their connection, and they're remarkable together."-JKR

Great talker. Sexy and passionate. Laid back. Knows how to have fun. Is really good at a lot. Great kisser. Unpredictable. Outgoing. Down to earth. Loyal. Addictive. Attractive. Loud. Loves being in long relationships. Talkative. Not one to mess with. Rare to find. Great when found.

- What Others Have Said About Our Favorite Couple -

The plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in.

One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character.
~ JKR ~

"I'd have to say that I was incredibly thrilled that Ginny and Harry got together!"
- Chris Rankin -

“My character [Cho] has already played her part, and now it's Ginny's turn, just as it is in the books. I really think that she deserves Harry's love, and I think that Bonnie has done an excellent job playing her!"
- Katie Leung -

"She's [Ginny] courageous, she's there for him [Harry] and she'll stand by him. That's what makes them good together."
- Bonnie Wright -

As a fan, are you a shipper? Who do you like?
"I ship all the normal ones - Ginny/Harry, Ron/Hermione."
- Evanna Lynch -

How were the scenes with Harry's new girlfriend in the movie?
Harry dates Ginny. There is a really funny scene about this. In the beginning, Ginny dates Dean Thomas, and Ron says: "You have to hate anyone who goes out with their sister as a matter of principle". Harry, ashamed, says: " Yeah, I suppose so….". He gets a little embarrassed. It's even more complicated than dating Cho. But it's a sweet and important story in the movie.
- Daniel Radcliffe -

"There has always been a latent love story between Ginny and Harry."
- David Yates -

It'll be a family affair, Rupert Grint believes, with his Ron cuddling up to pal Hermione, while Harry hooks up with Ron's sister, Ginny.
"Harry's sort of a Weasley anyhow since my parents have taken him in,"
- Rupert Grint -

Matt Lewis at Dragon*Con August 2008 was asked about the H/G stuff in HBP:
"Oh yeah, that stuff is brilliant! With Harry and Ginny and Dean, it's all really, really fun, and it's going to be great to watch!"
- Matthew Lewis -

(Translated from her movies.ie interview on the Tale of Despereaux)
It's more of a romantic comedy [HBP], it has quite a bit of romance in it. I think the humor is very significant as well. They've really got that in this one! Harry and Ginny even share their first kiss and their relationship is really developed. It's set up very nicely for the final chapter actually! It's really good!
- Emma Watson -

"...Seeing Bonnie Wright - who plays Ginny Weasley - blossom is lovely, as well as it is to see her burgeoning romance with Harry..."
- David Heyman -

Speaking of . . . how does the coming together of Ginny and Harry play out when we've all fallen for Cho Chang in the previous films?
"It’s interesting in the way it’s played out. I’m very happy with the moment they consummate their feelings. It was a nice scene and David did it really well. It’s sweet. For any longtime Potter fan, it's now that you begin to see people coming together..."
- Steve Kloves -

The train began to move. Harry saw the boys' mother waving and their sister, half laughing, half crying, running to keep up with the train until it gathered too much speed; then she fell back and waved. Harry watched the girl and her mother disappear as the train rounded the corner.
___________________________________________________

"Ginny!" Harry muttered, sprinting to her and dropping to his knees. "Ginny -- don't be dead -- please don't be dead --" He flung his wand aside, grabbed Ginny's shoulders, and turned her over. Her face was white as marble, and cold as ice, yet her eyes were closed, so she wasn't Petrified. But then she must be --
"Ginny, please wake up," Harry muttered desperately, shaking her. Ginny's head lolled hopelessly from side to side.
- - - - -
"You've got to help me, Tom," Harry said, raising Ginny's head again. "We've got to get her out of here. There's a basilisk...I don't know where it is, but it could be along any moment.... Please help me --"
Riddle didn't move. Harry, sweating, managed to hoist Ginny half off the floor, and bent to pick up his wand again.

"Ah, there's Penelope!" said Percy, smoothing his hair and going pink again. Ginny caught Harry's eye and they both turned away to hide their laughter as Percy strode over to a girl with long, curly hair, walking with his chest thrown out so that she couldn't miss his shiny badge.
_________________________________________________

"He -- er -- just asked Fleur Delacour to go to the ball with him," said Ginny. She looked as though she was fighting back a smile, but kept patting Ron's arm sympathetically.
- - - - -
"She's part Veela," said Harry. "You were right -- her grandmother was one. It wasn't your fault, I bet you just walked past when she was turning on the old charm for Diggory and got a blast of it -- but she was wasting her time. He's going with Cho Chang." Ron looked up. "I asked her to go with me just now," Harry said dully, "and she told me." Ginny had suddenly stopped smiling.
_________________________________________________

"Harry, I'm talking to you, can you hear me?"
"Huh?" He looked around. Ginny Weasley, looking very windswept, had joined him at the library table where Harry had been sitting alone.
-----
"You seem really down lately," Ginny persisted. "You know, I'm sure if you just talked to Cho..."
"It's not Cho I want to talk to," said Harry bruskly.
"Who is it, then?" asked Ginny, watching him closely.
"I...." He glanced around to make quite sure that nobody was listening; Madam Pince was several shelves away, stamping out a pile of books for a frantic-looking Hannah Abbott. "I wish I could talk to Sirius," he muttered. "But I know I can't."
Ginny continued to watch him thoughtfully. More to give himself something to do than because he really wanted any, Harry unwrapped his Easter egg, broke off a large bit and put it into his mouth. "Well," said Ginny slowly, helping herself to a bit of egg too, "if you really want to talk to Sirius, I expect we could think of a way to do it...."
"Come on," said Harry dully. "With Umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?"
"The thing about growing up with Fred and George," said Ginny thoughtfully, "is that you sort of start thinking that anything's possible if you've got enough nerve."
Harry looked at her. Perhaps it was the effect of the chocolate-Lupin had always advised eating some after encounters with dementors-or simply because he had finally spoken aloud the wish that had been burning inside him for a week, but he felt a bit more hopeful....
_________________________________________________

A roar of celebration erupted from the hole behind her. Harry gaped as people began to scream at the sight of him; several hands pulled him into the room. "We won!" yelled Ron, bounding into sight and brandishing the silver Cup at Harry. "We won! Four hundred and fifty to a hundred and forty!
We won!" Harry looked around; there was Ginny running towards him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her. After several long moments – or it might have been half an hour – or possibly several sunlit days – they broke apart.

None of the Death Eaters moved. They were waiting: everything was waiting. Hagrid was struggling, and Bellatrix was panting, and Harry thought inexplicably of Ginny, and her blazing look, and the feel of her lips on his—

Any moment, the people for whom he had tried to die would see him, lying apparently dead, in Hagrid's arms.
[...snip...]
"No!"
"No!"
"Harry! HARRY!"
Ron's, Hermione's, and Ginny's voices were worse than McGonagall's; Harry wanted nothing more than to call back...

Oh, can we please add that terrific review about The Kiss? The one about the soul healing kiss and how Ginny took the dark magic away from Harry? That's the best review ever!

Sanum had these three she came up with last thread, so these can be added to the OP:

Leos {H♥G}: "Their one kiss is one of the film’s best moments; sweet, tender and romantic." - HBP Review

Leos {H♥G}: "A beautifully written storyline, with a lot of strong moments between the two" - HBP Review

Leos {H♥G}: "It's really given life by Radcliffe and Wright, who have an easy chemistry together" - HBP Review

There's so many reviews, though, so I'm sure we'll have plenty.

The title is so sweet. Thanks Gean.

But yeah, I agree with Rose and Fez too. The soul-healing kiss quote is just so beautiful. I think there should be a collection of all the good reviews on H/G and The Kiss in the OP, if we still have space.

Two more.

Leos {H♥G}: "H&G had so much chemistry that viewers couldn’t help but desire to see them on the screen together." - HBP review

Leos {H♥G}: "The pair share a gorgeous scene in a room filled with dust-collecting magical antiques" - HBP Review

I just love this one. The full review:

Quote:

Also making a more vivid impression is Bonnie Wright as the self-possessed Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister and Harry's new love interest. The pair share a gorgeous scene in a room filled with dust-collecting magical antiques -- lovingly interpreted by Stephanie Zacharek that "Romantic love, as an idea, may technically be very old, but it's the young who keep it new by continually breathing life into it."
And some more random reviews that I don't think got posted:

Quote:
Love is in the air. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny have led such tragic lives, and we've been watching them for eight years now. So it's a relief to see they've found love amid the chaos. Those of us in the know are expecting our happy ending; unfortunately, we can't expect the same for Remus and Nymphadora.
Quote:
Why didn’t Harry recognize the Vanishing Box? When Harry and Ginny are in the Room of Requirement, if memory serves me right the box is right next to them, and Harry saw it in the suspicious scene earlier. You’d think Harry would have noticed — but he can be forgiven for being a little distracted, what with the imminent snogging.
Quote:
Most of the humor comes from teenage romances, notably involving Harry’s best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger, and Ron’s sister Ginny. Ron’s misadventures with the smitten Lavender Brown — and Hermione’s reaction — are funny and true-to-life. Ron complains to Harry that he must dump Lavender because of the non-stop kissing: “My lips are getting chapped!” And a conversation between the two boys about noticing who has nice skin — Harry mentions Ginny’s skin; Ron Hermione’s — is sweet, and revealing.
This one made me lol:

Quote:

Harry and Ginny end up in the Room of Requirement and – shock – almost kiss. If Yates really wanted gritty realism, the Room of Requirement would have lived up to its name and provided the young lovebirds with a double bed and a packet of ribbed for her pleasure.
I'm looking for the soul-healing one

Here it is! SOUL-HEALING. ♥

Quote:
There is a quiet little moment, near the middle of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, a moment that sweetly captures the true magic of the latest Potter movie.

It comes just after Harry has ventured, for the first time, to use dark magic. In the middle of a duel with his classmate Draco Malfoy, Harry tries out a mysterious spell he's found, scribbled in the margin of a battered old potions spell book, with near-fatal consequences.

Shaken by how close he has come to committing murder, Harry seeks out his friends Hermione and Ron, and Ron's younger sister, Ginny.
"Take my hand," says Ginny, as she leads him past a tapestry of a white unicorn, an ancient symbol of purity and innocence. She leads him to the secret Room of Requirement.

"Close your eyes," she says, and hides the book in the clutter of schoolkid contraband. This way, she says, Harry won't be tempted to use its dark spells again. Then, with Harry's eyes still shut, she gives him a chaste, soul-healing kiss.

It's a small and subtle scene--yet a symbolically subversive one. In this moment, Ginny becomes the mirror-image of the misogynist Eve or Pandora archetype. Instead of woman tempting man into sin with forbidden knowledge, Ginny, the anti-Eve, hides the dangerous knowledge away. Instead of the love of a woman causing the hero's fall, her love redeems him. He has committed an evil act. She takes his hand, leads him from darkness, and purges his guilt--a tolerably profound moment in a summer flick marketed to teens and tweens.

There is a quiet little moment, near the middle of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, a moment that sweetly captures the true magic of the latest Potter movie.

Potter purists may protest that there is no such scene in the novel. In the original Half- Blood Prince story, Harry quickly chucks the telltale potions book into the Room of Requirement, then snatches up his buddy Ron's textbook, and tries to pass it off as his own. But if the scene concocted by screenwriter Steve Kloves and director David Yates isn't strictly true to J. K. Rowling's text, it's brilliantly true to her theme and purpose.

It's easy to pooh-pooh the marketing phenomenon of the Harry Potter books and movies. Rowling's later books are saggy, baggy and desperately in need of a good edit. And most of the movies have been special-effects showpieces, with little narrative logic. Yet there's a spiritual core to Harry's saga that transcends the mundane, Muggle nature of our mass-market commodity culture, something that draws people to his story again and again.

This is, let it be said, easily the best movie of the bunch. It helps that the film cycle's young stars have finally grown up to be reasonably competent actors--doubtless, spending years apprenticed to the likes of Dame Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon is paying off. Tom Felton, in particular, has grown wonderfully as Draco Malfoy--he almost steals the film from Daniel Radcliffe's Harry, investing Malfoy with moral ambiguity, moral anguish and high style.

The film is also the funniest, most touching and most narratively coherent of the cycle. And it's the one in which Rowling's themes shine most brightly.
Many of the reviews of The Half- Blood Prince have snickered, somewhat pruriently, at the adolescent characters' romantic awakenings. But at its heart, this is a film about the redemptive power of love.

Not eros, though there's plenty of "snogging"--a. k. a. necking--in the Hogwarts halls. It's about love in all its forms--the love of parents for their children, the love of friends for one another, the love of students for the teachers they admire, and the love of teachers for students they mentor. It's about learning to judge the difference between lust or fancy, and the kind of true fidelity that has the power to inspire sacrifice, to save lives and mend souls.

In one of the film's funniest and most telling scenes, we find poor Ron Weasley lying in the hospital wing, recovered from a near-fatal poisoning. His snogging partner, the absurdly sentimental Lavender Brown, bursts in, outraged that no one has told her of Ron's plight, and even more annoyed to find Ron's longtime buddy Hermione at his bedside.

"I'm his girlfriend," she huffs indignantly. "And I'm his...friend," shoots back Hermione, a bit uncertainly. And that's it in a nutshell. Lavender delights in playing the part of the "girlfriend"--of going through the socially sanctioned motions of teen courtship. Hermione isn't interested in such artifices. She isn't interested in dating Ron the Quidditch star. She loves the real Ron -- her friend.

And perhaps that's why the Potter franchise has proven so enduring. These aren't mere formula fantasies. They are stories with heart and soul, which speak to the hard moral choices we Muggles, of every age, face every day. And in a world like ours, perhaps that's just magic enough.
ETA - Sanum beat me to it LOL.

Thanks for all the other reviews Rose. I wanted to keep a count on all of them but gosh, there were way too many.

I haven't read some of those reviews, Rose. Thanks for posting it here.

But seriously, this one! OMG!

Harry and Ginny end up in the Room of Requirement and – shock – almost kiss. If Yates really wanted gritty realism, the Room of Requirement would have lived up to its name and provided the young lovebirds with a double bed and a packet of ribbed for her pleasure.
It's PG, people! But I guess that just shows how HOT H/G is.

And for the soul-healing kiss review! The most beautiful review on the kiss.
