Eeee, I just listened to the preview of When Ginny Kissed Harry.

Ginny's theme, though, just sounds exactly like Hedwig's theme. Oh well, it probably sounds different after the first 10 seconds or so that I could hear.

Yeah, it must be. At first I thought I clicked the wrong preview.

Can't wait to hear the H/G theme fully.

OMG, the theme to their kiss is SO beautiful. GAH!!!!!!

Ginny's theme does sound very much like Hedwig's theme. Dumbledore's Farewell is also lovely, it gives me chills.

BUT THEIR KISS!!! OMG.

*goes to listen to the rest*

Guh. I just listened to the preview of When Ginny Kissed Harry again. I'm sorry people, but there's nothing for it, I have to bring out Nelson again.

Nelson is frickin perfect. ♥

I've already listened to the kiss theme about five times. I planned on listening to the rest but I have yet to. What? Me obsessed? Of course not.

Yeah, Dumbledore's farewell is beautiful. I can just imagine Ginny comforting Harry there.

Yay, Nelson! My reaction exactly.

Ginny's theme is Hedwig's Theme plus harp as far as I can tell. I also think that's the harp in When Ginny Kissed Harry. I think Hooper sees Ginny as a harp.

Don't worry, MayhemPrincess, I thought the exact same thing, if I'm honest.

I was going to make that joke too. I wish there was more to Ginny's theme because I bet you Hedwig's Theme fades away and the harp takes over.

OMG, that's what I thought! Ginny's a Harpie. Excuse my LULZ.

But on a serious note, the harp is light and pretty and girly. I LOVE it.

It is nice! Too bad the 'Harpy' bit was cut short

I can see why it would start out with Hedwig's theme.

Maybe the scene starts with an exterior shot of the Burrow and the music will change as Harry arrives and sees Ginny for the first time.

Just my guess.

I did some Googling on harps and came up with:

From What's Your Sign

Quote:
The Harp is a symbol of love in the form of lyrical art, poetry, and music. The Harp shares mythical connections to the Celts representing the bridge of love connecting heaven and earth. In Norway and Iceland, Harpstrings formed a ladder symbolizing the ascent to higher states of love and pathways leading to paradise. King David played the Harp to the Lord to express his devotion and love.
From House of Names

Quote:
The harp, as a heraldic symbol, signifies contemplation, thoughtfulness, and gentle pursuits. Harps are ancient instrument and were depicted in paintings from the 13th cent. B.C. at Thebes. The harp was particularly popular in Ireland from the 9th cent, where they adopted the Irish harp, as a national symbol. The Irish bards were sacred musicians and poets of their country, using the beatiful sounds of the harp to bridge heaven and earth. James I was the first English monarch to quarter the ensign of Ireland. Musical instruments are heraldic symbols that, in general, signify festivity and rejoicing
I doubt any of this was in Hooper's mind when he was composing--he probably chose the harp because it's a beautiful sounding instrument and has a light, festive quality to it. People also associate harps with festive occasions like weddings, at least I do. There's a reason why harps aren't part of punk or heavy metal bands.
