She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in. One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. | I never post on Leaky and for good reason. I just go on there for the news. One of the reasons why I quit IMDB is because the users there are so bitchy and elitist. Many prefer to blind themselves to other people's opinions and whenever I state an opinion that counters theirs, they tell me I am not letting people have opinions. But opinions lead to other opinions, hence the term debates. Anyway it's just a bunch of forums full of elitist snobs without any rules except you can report threads for any reason you want, because administrators there are not human, but machines, and it's a haven for trolls. May the troll rule IMDB with an iron fist, because there's no other site that would allow that. Esespecially not the FF. The Ginny/Bonnie hate is idotic and hypocritical. I think the root of it is shipping. Fanon. That's just what I think. I wonder about the bathrobe...is it flimsy? It looks like it goes down to her knees. | |||

| There's a Ginny hate thread on IMDB. I never understand why people spend so much time on something/someone they don't like. What a waste of energy. But yeah, I've seen alot of Ginny hate .. a big percentage doesn't like her in fandom but the majority of stuff I see from them is hypocritical crap or just wrong. I'm not saying misinterpretation but just like ... made up stuff. Though people do read alot of her actions waaaaay differently than I do. | Like I said, the root of all evil in HP is the fanon. My opinion on Fanon is that it trashes a wonderful work of literature. Most great works are never appreciated for what they are for years after publication. THat was a nice touch giving Ginny a flimsy robe to wear. It really brings a sensuality to her, and if my "calculations" are correct, Ginny will be the first female character in the Harry Potter films to be portrayed in such an unusual way. | |||

| Ah Ginny does have a sensual side to her  I like fanon in that it helps in fill in missing gaps and pieces and you can share your love and appreciation of characters.But unfortunately, it seems like there are only certain parts of fanon that you can really mingle in. | The sad thing about online fandom is that for a significant proportion of it (certain areas of Livejournal spings to mind ...), it doesn't inspire proper, reasonable debate at all - it just allows people of vaguely similar mind to band together, back up each others opinions and fuel each others' egos, until you get vicious sub-groups repeating the same tired, cliched arguments they've read a thousand times before, seemingly unable to think for themselves - they all merge into one very dull whinging sound. The Ginny hate is just one example, because you'll see the same tired old arguments repeated almost word-for-word, and no matter how many times that you prove that the arguments are simply not supported by the text (and, for the most part, they just aren't - a lot of it isn't even a matter of opinion, it's just fact), they don't stop. It's just a good job they're a tiny minority, though, and a few thousand people whinging on Livejournal is barely a dent in the millions of readers (most of whom don't even go on HP websites) who read the books. Anyway, rant over. I'll just say I'm glad I found this place, where a H/G thread can live side-by-side with threads for other ships relatively harmoniously (excuse the pun  ).This is a song that always reminds me of Harry and Ginny now - it's a cover version of a song called "Interlude", sung by JKR's favourite singer-songwriter Morrissey (she once appeared on a documentary about him!), and Siouxie, from the Banshees. | Wet hair, bathrobe, nothing underneath, Bonnie must have been keeping in shape in order to play a very different HP girl. We get wowed enough from Hermione, and welcome Luna for a change with her unique views on things, and now Ginny is going to give the films something entirely different. I can't wait. Yeah, egos is another root of all evil in the fandom. You get that in all fandoms, Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR, and the new kids on the block Twilight. HP is not unique when it comes to egos. | |||

I mean I see alot of people here on FF and LJ and I'm sure maybe other forums as well ( I have a COS account I haven't used in eons lol) .. stuff like that. Some of them are also in the Twilight fandom from what I have seen. I'm actually very fine in my corner of the fandom which is mostly here and even though I don't use my LJ account ... I read stories there. Fine by me. It's a happy place. I do like FF quite a bit for exactly that reason. Or even, in a H/G or Ginny thread .. it seems to be basically those people that LIKE them posting ya know. Makes a nice change. ETA - Sorry didn't mean to sound like I was analyzing an essay there.
