Rowling says about Harry and Ginny TLC and Mugglenet's interview with JKR -July 16th, 2005 The plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in. One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character. | Elite Fan | Okay now we need to get to work. We need new artwork, fanfic links, book quotes etc. to update our brand new thread celebrating our canon 'family' ship. I've already changed the opening welcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ETA: Okay guys, how should we do this? I want to put a selection of memorable moments from DH but I also want to keep some of our eariler moments too. Should we have a vote on the top 5 moments and post them? If we can find artwork that depicts the scene that would also help make it pretty too. | No more spoiler tags!  Thanks for starting the new thread Amy! Love the title! I want to keep the happy hours moment from HBP and of course the first kiss. How about we add the Birthday kiss with the art Mudblood did earlier? So we'll two or three H/G moments from both books and then a picture of the kids with descriptions underneath. ETA-- How about these as fanfics? | Elite Fan | Yeah. It's tricky to figure out what to keep and what to delete. I want to cut down the JKR interview. Not entirely but just maybe use one quote from it. I love the HBP's moments but now that we have DH we can't keep everything. It would just be too large so we have to be selective. That's why I think a vote of everyone's top 5 throughout the series would work. Also I can decrease the size of the member list to one point, thereby making more room. What does everyone think of having just 5 fics recs? And we can keep them updated with each new thread. | Stopping in before I need to get to work to say I love the new thread! We're allowed to talk about DH without the spoiler tags now, right? I love seeing 'Ginny and Harry Potter' written on the beginning post along with mention of their children's names. I love our ship so much. :D I can't even begin to narrow down which moments to put up because I love them all. The idea of voting for the top 5 moments seems like the most pragmatic solution. | |||

| Elite Fan | Funny story: When I was 7 my parents took my brothers and me down to the park to have our portraits painted by a watercolourist. She was fantastic because somehow she painted me with a smile on my face when I can remember vividly sitting for the poor girl bawling my head off. I had just been stung by a bee and needless to say I wasn't really in the mood to sit still. Cambryn's portraits gave me a flashback to that unfortunate day. My parents still have the paintings on their bedroom wall at home.
