She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in. One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character. ~ JKR ~ "I'd have to say that I was incredibly thrilled that Ginny and Harry got together!" - Chris Rankin - “My character has played her part, and now it's Ginny's turn, just as it is in the books. I really think that she deserves Harry's love, and I think that Bonnie has done an excellent job playing her!" - Katie Leung - "It was interesting to see what happened with the relationship between Ginny and Harry [in Deathly Hallows]. I think it ended well. Definitely!" [laughs] - Bonnie Wright - As a fan, are you a shipper? Who do you like? "I ship all the normal ones - Ginny/Harry, Ron/Hermione." - Evanna Lynch - How were the scenes with Harry's new girlfriend in the movie? Harry dates Ginny. There is a really funny scene about this. In the beginning, Ginny dates Dean Thomas, and Ron says: "You have to hate anyone who goes out with their sister as a matter of principle". Harry, ashamed, says: " Yeah, I suppose so….". He gets a little embarrassed. It's even more complicated than dating Cho. But it's a sweet and important story in the movie. - Daniel Radcliffe - "There are many subtleties in their relationship, and a lot of sexual and emotional tension" - David Yates - It'll be a family affair, Rupert Grint believes, with his Ron cuddling up to pal Hermione, while Harry hooks up with Ron's sister, Ginny. "Harry's sort of a Weasley anyhow since my parents have taken him in," - Rupert Grint - Matt Lewis at Dragon*Con August 2008 was asked about the H/G stuff in the HBP film: "Oh yeah, that stuff is brilliant! With Harry and Ginny and Dean, it's all really, really fun, and it's going to be great to watch!" - Matthew Lewis - (Translated from her movies.ie interview on the Tale of Despereaux) It's more of a romantic comedy [HBP], it has quite a bit of romance in it. I think the humor is very significant as well. They've really got that in this one! Harry and Ginny even share their first kiss and their relationship is really developed. It's set up very nicely for the final chapter actually! | One negative comment against the H/G kiss does not bother me. Plenty of people enjoyed it (even a non-shipper LOVED it). Of course the ones who were not aware of the change beforehand would be disappointed. There's a big difference. But that's just how it is. There's nothing we can do, and there's plenty more to enjoy otherwise, so there's no point in remaining upset over it. That aside, I'm a little confused on how this person managed to miss the Dean/Ginny kiss. It IS there, more than one person has confirmed it, and it's not exactly a moment you could miss. Especially if they're actually snogging. Quote:

i was listening to the pottercast and they had someone that went to go see the previewin chicago and she sad there was no dean/ginny snog that she could remember!!!! which really confusing cause there were test screeners that said she was and she said the harry/ginny kiss was DISAPPOINTING!! IVE GOTTEN SO DOWN IN THE DUMPS AFTER HEARING THIS.....
