She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in. One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character. ~ JKR ~ "I'd have to say that I was incredibly thrilled that Ginny and Harry got together!" - Chris Rankin - “My character [Cho] has already played her part, and now it's Ginny's turn, just as it is in the books. I really think that she deserves Harry's love, and I think that Bonnie has done an excellent job playing her!" - Katie Leung - "It was interesting to see what happened with the relationship between Ginny and Harry [in Deathly Hallows]. I think it ended well. Definitely!" [laughs] - Bonnie Wright - As a fan, are you a shipper? Who do you like? "I ship all the normal ones - Ginny/Harry, Ron/Hermione." - Evanna Lynch - How were the scenes with Harry's new girlfriend in the movie? Harry dates Ginny. There is a really funny scene about this. In the beginning, Ginny dates Dean Thomas, and Ron says: "You have to hate anyone who goes out with their sister as a matter of principle". Harry, ashamed, says: " Yeah, I suppose so….". He gets a little embarrassed. It's even more complicated than dating Cho. But it's a sweet and important story in the movie. - Daniel Radcliffe - "There has always been a latent love story between Ginny and Harry." - David Yates - It'll be a family affair, Rupert Grint believes, with his Ron cuddling up to pal Hermione, while Harry hooks up with Ron's sister, Ginny. "Harry's sort of a Weasley anyhow since my parents have taken him in," - Rupert Grint - Matt Lewis at Dragon*Con August 2008 was asked about the H/G stuff in HBP: "Oh yeah, that stuff is brilliant! With Harry and Ginny and Dean, it's all really, really fun, and it's going to be great to watch!" - Matthew Lewis - (Translated from her movies.ie interview on the Tale of Despereaux) It's more of a romantic comedy [HBP], it has quite a bit of romance in it. I think the humor is very significant as well. They've really got that in this one! Harry and Ginny even share their first kiss and their relationship is really developed. I think Rowling would be so proud of Harry & Ginny.  Harry Potter & Ginny Weasley - one of the most romantic literary lovers. | My sister and I saw a BBC production of Tess of the D'Ubervilles starring Justine Waddell. Generally, when I see one of those productions I end up in a pretty good mood but my sister and I were incredibly depressed by the time it was over. Imagine the Harry Potter series without the Weasleys, Quidditch, or anything that gave Harry any happiness and you have the overall feel for Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Thomas Hardy must have hated her to put her through so much misery. For good books with couples to root for and which deserve a bigger audience, I recommend: Steve Kluger's My Most Excellent Year: A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins, and Fenway Park: It's a YA novel about three teens. They've been assigned to write about their "Most Excellent Year" and all three pick their freshman year of high school for various reasons. It's funny, touching, and not angsty at all. I admit it's a bit idealized but I don't think it's unrealistic--teens can be a pain but they can also be great. Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series. It starts with Silent in the Grave and is followed by Silent in the Sanctuary. The third book, Silent on the Moor, comes out this March. These are mysteries featuring Lady Julia Grey, an Earl's daughter and a wealthy widow. Her partner in crime fighting is Nicholas Brisbane--part Gypsy, part aristrocrat--and the object of her increasing devotion. Raybourn is very good at writing a slow burning couple. Finally, there's Barry Hughart's Bridge of Birds featuring Master Li and Number 10 Ox. More a dynamic duo than a couple, this is a fantasy set in "an ancient China that never was." This is a book that was ahead of its time. Bridge of Birds originally came out in the mid-eighties but I'm convinced that if it came out now it'd be a big hit because of the China setting, the use of Chinese folklore, and it's irreverent humor. I remember being complete awed when I read Bridge of Birds. This guy says exactly what I want to say. Unfortunately, the two sequels are a bit hard to find but the first book is still available. Back on topic: If I sat down and made a list, Harry/Ginny would be on that list. I don't know where on the list they'd be, but they'd be there alongside Tony/Michelle from 24. I've read Dorian Gray. It's not a book with a lot of action (or any action, really) but it's interesting. A movie version is coming out later this year starring Ben Barnes aka Prince Caspian.
