We think Leo (the astrological sign of the lion) is a great representation of Harry and Ginny and here's why:
1) Both are Leos: Harry was born on July 31st and Ginny was born on Aug 11th
2) Both are Gryffindor (Lions) students and quidditch team members
3) Both have firery spirits that seem to compliment each other perfectly

If these don't say match made in heaven, then heaven must not exist.

MA: Had you been trying to get them —
JKR: Well I always knew that that was going to happen, that they were going to come together and then part.

JKR: Well, no, not really, because the plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in.

One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character.

Our Favourite HBP scene: Chapter 24
Harry looked around; there was Ginny running towards him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her.
After several long moments – or it might have been half an hour – or possibly several sunlit days – they broke apart. The room had gone very quiet. Then several people wolf-whistled and there was an outbreak of nervous giggling. Harry looked over the top of Ginny's head to see Dean Thomas holding a shattered glass in his hands and Romilda Vane looking as though she might throw something. Hermione was beaming, but Harry's eyes sought Ron. At last he found him, still clutching the Cup and wearing an expression appropriate to having been clubbed over the head. For a fraction of a second they looked at each other, then Ron gave a tiny jerk of the head that Harry understood to mean, "Well – if you must."
The creature in his chest roaring in triumph, Harry grinned down at Ginny and gestured wordlessly out of the portrait hole. A long walk in the grounds seemed indicated, during which – if they had time – they might discuss the match.

Chapter 25
The fact that Harry Potter was going out with Ginny Weasley seemed to interest a great number of people, most of them girls, yet Harry found himself newly and happily impervious to gossip over the next few weeks. After all, it made a very nice change to be talked about because of something that was making him happier than he could remember being for a very long time, rather than because he had been involved in horrific scenes of Dark magic.
"You'd think people had better things to gossip about," said Ginny, as she sat on the common-room floor, leaning against Harry's legs and reading the Daily Prophet. "Three Dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it's true you've got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest."
Ron and Hermione both roared with laughter. Harry ignored them.
"What did you tell her?"
"I told her it's a Hungarian Horntail," said Ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. "Much more macho."
"Thanks," said Harry, grinning. "And what did you tell her Ron's got?"
"A Pygmy Puff, but I didn't say where."
Ron scowled as Hermione rolled around laughing.

But Ron's tolerance was not to be tested much as they moved into June, for Harry and Ginny's time together was becoming increasingly restricted. Ginny's O.W.L.s were approaching and she was therefore forced to revise for hours into the night. On one such evening, when Ginny had retired to the library and Harry was sitting beside the window in the common room, supposedly finishing his Herbology homework but in reality reliving a particularly happy hour he had spent down by the lake with Ginny at lunch-time, Hermione dropped into the seat between him and Ron...

That IS a shame that yet another picture was stolen from her myspace (wasn't that shut down?). And here I had the idea of creating an icon with a baby Ginny and a baby Harry. But since it's stolen I'll have to forget about it. Darn. I was all pumped about it too.

Aw, thanks for the welcome guys. I thought I should get in on the Harry/Ginny love before the last book (hopefully, sometime this year) comes out.

Some hacker found another way into private accounts. So, of course, her pictures are going around like wildfire.

I know what you mean about iconning. Official Bonnie pictures are so far and few between,*glares at WB*, it gets very tempting to icon them. Sometimes the movies just don't do Bonnie justice like quite a few of her own pics do. She's absolutely lovely.

I didn't get the chance to tell you in the last thread. The lack of official images of Bonnie in character does get frustrating, but hopefully Ootp will mark a change. We know there's going to be a focus on the six teenagers during promotion so hopefully we'll get more of Ginny than we've gotten in the past. It'll be a nice change, that's for sure.

Welcome Lucy

Speaking of the lack of images of Bonnie, lets hope that comes to an end within the next few weeks.

Potter film news has come to a dead halt lately apart from the news about the merchandising (which of course was great given it gave us hope about Bonnie's higher profile).

This has the feeling of a calm before the storm. We are surely due for the next round of publicity in February, now that everyone should be back on board at WB and the studio in London after the holiday break.

I saw the trailer for Spiderman 3 the other day when I was at the movies escaping the 43 degree heat (over 100F). I had seen it online obviously but not at the movies, and I have been a regular at the movies since mid December (8 films in 35 days!!

).

This means we should be getting something for HP fairly shortly.

I was opining at Leaky yesterday that they might stick the international trailer with something like "Music and Lyrics" which opens on February 14th. It's got broad appeal, particularly to the young female audience who like romcoms, and who are a big part of the HP audience. MInd you, it doesn't take care of the young male audience.

The other possibility is Stranger than Fiction. Like Music and Lyrics it has the same Australian distributor as HP and it opens next Thursday, February 1st.

While it's not your typical Will Ferrell movie you might get some unsuspecting young males in there thinking it is one of his more typical comedies, lol.

I just wish they would tell us like the tell the US which film the trailer will be with!!!

Mind you, as I said at Leaky yesterday I think the perfect film to attach the trailer to would be ... Miss Potter

which opens this week!

Fez, awesome banner! You know we really should start thinking about updated the one here - when we get more OotP and Ginny pics that is.

Okay Leos, I have some questions for you.

Jo's said we're getting an epilogue in Dealthy Hallows. Do you think we'll see the filmmakers include it into the film? And if so, depending on how far she takes her characters in to the future, how would you feel seeing the young actors portray their characters if say Harry and Ginny (and Ron and Hermione) were married (with or expecting childern)? Would rather the characters be played by older and therefore different actors? Or would you rather see Dan and Bonnie (and Emma and Rupert) play them regardless?

It depends on how much older the characters are in the epilogue which I do think will be including in the DH movie. If the characters are still in their 20's then I think they'll just stick with the actors we know. You have to remember by the time DH comes out Dan and Rupert will already be in their early 20's, while Bonnie and Emma will be in their late teens. So they can pull it off with a little make up if needed.

But if the characters are 30 or over then they might use different actors. They might not want to age the young actors 10 years or more so might have older actors to make it more convincing.

But, if they do this then I think they should choose actors who look like the younger versions, like in Narnia. Just casting a famous name won't be good enough, they'll have to cast actors who can play the older Dan, Bonnie, Emma, and Rupert.

You're on, lol. I have a chronic illness that doesn't respond well to the humidity so January and February in Sydney are a living hell for me - although tonight it is only about 20C.

I think there is a very good chance we will see the epilogue - the fans would truly riot of it wasn't, lol!

I don't know why but I've always thought that the epilogue would only go a few years into the future ie who marries who, what job they end up with, what does Harry decide to do with his life etc.

I think if they are under 30 I would like the originals to play them. If she writes further into the future they might have to take the Narnia route and have different actors as the whole aging make-up thing rarely works well on aging teenagers up.

This is how I feel about the whole thing. If they are still relatively young, then I think it'd be best to keep the main actors, but if they are over 30, then it would probably be better to get older actors. It just depends on how far Jo goes in the epilogue and how much the filmmakers choose to show.
