~ What Others Have Said About H/G ~

The plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in.

One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character.

The train began to move. Harry saw the boys' mother waving and their sister, half laughing, half crying, running to keep up with the train until it gathered too much speed; then she fell back and waved. Harry watched the girl and her mother disappear as the train rounded the corner.

"Ginny!" Harry muttered, sprinting to her and dropping to his knees. "Ginny -- don't be dead -- please don't be dead --" He flung his wand aside, grabbed Ginny's shoulders, and turned her over. Her face was white as marble, and cold as ice, yet her eyes were closed, so she wasn't Petrified. But then she must be --
"Ginny, please wake up," Harry muttered desperately, shaking her. Ginny's head lolled hopelessly from side to side.

"You've got to help me, Tom," Harry said, raising Ginny's head again. "We've got to get her out of here. There's a basilisk...I don't know where it is, but it could be along any moment.... Please help me --"
Riddle didn't move. Harry, sweating, managed to hoist Ginny half off the floor, and bent to pick up his wand again.

"Ah, there's Penelope!" said Percy, smoothing his hair and going pink again. Ginny caught Harry's eye and they both turned away to hide their laughter as Percy strode over to a girl with long, curly hair, walking with his chest thrown out so that she couldn't miss his shiny badge.

"He -- er -- just asked Fleur Delacour to go to the ball with him," said Ginny. She looked as though she was fighting back a smile, but kept patting Ron's arm sympathetically.

It wasn't your fault, I bet you just walked past when she was turning on the old charm for Diggory and got a blast of it -- but she was wasting her time. He's going with Cho Chang." Ron looked up. "I asked her to go with me just now," Harry said dully, "and she told me." Ginny had suddenly stopped smiling.

"Huh?" He looked around. Ginny Weasley, looking very windswept, had joined him at the library table where Harry had been sitting alone.

"You seem really down lately," Ginny persisted. "You know, I'm sure if you just talked to Cho..."
"It's not Cho I want to talk to," said Harry bruskly.
"Who is it, then?" asked Ginny, watching him closely.
"I...." He glanced around to make quite sure that nobody was listening; Madam Pince was several shelves away, stamping out a pile of books for a frantic-looking Hannah Abbott. "I wish I could talk to Sirius," he muttered. "But I know I can't."
Ginny continued to watch him thoughtfully. More to give himself something to do than because he really wanted any, Harry unwrapped his Easter egg, broke off a large bit and put it into his mouth. "Well," said Ginny slowly, helping herself to a bit of egg too, "if you really want to talk to Sirius, I expect we could think of a way to do it...."
"Come on," said Harry dully. "With Umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?"
"The thing about growing up with Fred and George," said Ginny thoughtfully, "is that you sort of start thinking that anything's possible if you've got enough nerve."
Harry looked at her. Perhaps it was the effect of the chocolate-Lupin had always advised eating some after encounters with dementors-or simply because he had finally spoken aloud the wish that had been burning inside him for a week, but he felt a bit more hopeful....

A roar of celebration erupted from the hole behind her. Harry gaped as people began to scream at the sight of him; several hands pulled him into the room. "We won!" yelled Ron, bounding into sight and brandishing the silver Cup at Harry. "We won! Four hundred and fifty to a hundred and forty!
We won!" Harry looked around; there was Ginny running towards him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her. After several long moments – or it might have been half an hour – or possibly several sunlit days – they broke apart.

In all honestly, that loss of the Tonks angst doesn't matter to me at all, but I am a little saddened about the funeral being cut if that's true, but I don't know who to believe- I don't know if that girl is lying, if Scoop is lying, if someone misunderstood Nat... I dunno.

But, if they still have a nice H/G break up scene (and I'm pretty positive there will be a final connecting R/Hr in there too like at the funeral), honestly, I'm perfectly okay.

It's really only the things that happen at the funeral that matter, not the actual funeral, and if they add in those pivotal moments elsewhere, I don't have a problem.

I'm going to withhold opinions on the current rumors until I see the film itself. I like to separate the book from the movie. I end up being happier with the movie because I'm judging it on its own merits. I've been able to enjoy every Harry Potter film this way.

ETA: Leggers, I still haven't strayed from my theory that the Harry/Ginny Room of Requirement scene is the break-up. This seems most likely, in my opinion, but I'm ready to admit I was wrong if it turns out to be false.

I'm the same. If the funeral scene is cut, then I'm sure they'll find another way to work out the H/G break-up and the final scene with the trio. I'm just a little surprised with the prospect of cutting it altogether. Plus, my sidekick heart is a bit disappointed at the thought of not getting to see Rupert comforting a sobbing Emma. ♥

But we don't even have confirmation on anything yet! It's all just hearsay now, and I am soo confused.

New thread! That screencap truly deserves to be on every page. How can so much perfection be contained in 400x304 pixels? I long for the day we can see those missing seconds in glorious HD quality.

As for right now, I'm officially bummed out though. The rumor that Dumbledore's funeral has been cut will hopefully remain a rumor. Anyone can go to Leaky and say "Oh, I was there and Nat Tena told me insert blank here was cut from the movie!" I don't believe it, but that could just be because I DON'T want it to be true. Denial creeping in, and all that.

Also, I want to give WB a collective slap for keeping quiet and still NOT confirming whether or not the teaser will debut with Narnia. I'm getting worried because someone suggested WB might wait to release the teaser with the Dark Knight which is way too far away for my taste! D: Plus, it's so weird that HBP comes out before Twilight and yet Twilight's teaser is already online. What in the world has happened to WB?! Is their marketing team on strike or what?

Evanna was talking about Dumbledore's death there, not his funeral. That's when they shot his death outside and all the students are there.

As for the RoR being the break-up, I've been wondering if they've moved the first kiss and the break-up into one scene. Like they kiss, but they know they can't be together. Which is why Ginny looks upset when she leaves. Harry has the book with him, so I'm pretty sure they're in there because of the potions book. But it would explain why we thought Ginny looked sad and why he had the potions book in the same scene.

I don't really...er...like this idea, because it sounds way too much like the birthday kiss in DH, so I hope I'm wrong. But at this point, I wouldn't put it past the movie people. They might have cut the freaking funeral.
