We think Leo (the astrological sign of the lion) is a great representation of Harry and Ginny and here's why:
1) Both are Leos: Harry was born on July 31st and Ginny was born on Aug 11th
2) Both are Gryffindor (Lions) students and quidditch team members
3) Both have firery spirits that seem to compliment each other perfectly

If these don't say match made in heaven, then heaven must not exist.

MA: I think you set that up from the train compartment scene [in book one], where he was watching — all the relationships, that scene probably set it up.
JKR: I think so. I hope so. So you liked Harry/Ginny, did you, when it happened?
ES: We've been waiting for this for years!

JKR: Yeah.
ES: It actually materialized!
JKR: It actually happened, I know! I felt a little bit like that.
MA: Had you been trying to get them —
JKR: Well I always knew that that was going to happen, that they were going to come together and then part.

JKR: Well, no, not really, because the plan was, which I really hope I fulfilled, is that the reader, like Harry, would gradually discover Ginny as pretty much the ideal girl for Harry. She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. He needs to be with someone who can stand the demands of being with Harry Potter, because he's a scary boyfriend in a lot of ways. He's a marked man. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. These are all things that Harry requires in his ideal woman. But, I felt — and I'm talking years ago when all this was planned — initially, she's terrified by his image. I mean, he's a bit of a rock god to her when she sees him first, at 10 or 11, and he's this famous boy. So Ginny had to go through a journey as well. And rather like with Ron, I didn’t want Ginny to be the first girl that Harry ever kissed. That's something I meant to say, and it's kind of tied in.

One of the ways in which I tried to show that Harry has done a lot of growing up — in “Phoenix,” remember when Cho comes into the compartment, and he thinks, ‘I wish I could have been discovered sitting with better people,’ basically? He's with Luna and Neville. So literally the identical thing happens in “Prince,” and he's with Luna and Neville again, but this time, he has grown up, and as far as he's concerned he is with two of the coolest people on the train. They may not look that cool. Harry has really grown. And I feel that Ginny and Harry, in this book, they are total equals. They are worthy of each other. They've both gone through a big emotional journey, and they've really got over a lot of delusions, to use your word, together. So, I enjoyed writing that. I really like Ginny as a character.

Our Favourite HBP scene: Chapter 24
Harry looked around; there was Ginny running towards him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her.
After several long moments – or it might have been half an hour – or possibly several sunlit days – they broke apart. The room had gone very quiet. Then several people wolf-whistled and there was an outbreak of nervous giggling. Harry looked over the top of Ginny's head to see Dean Thomas holding a shattered glass in his hands and Romilda Vane looking as though she might throw something. Hermione was beaming, but Harry's eyes sought Ron. At last he found him, still clutching the Cup and wearing an expression appropriate to having been clubbed over the head. For a fraction of a second they looked at each other, then Ron gave a tiny jerk of the head that Harry understood to mean, "Well – if you must."
The creature in his chest roaring in triumph, Harry grinned down at Ginny and gestured wordlessly out of the portrait hole. A long walk in the grounds seemed indicated, during which – if they had time – they might discuss the match.

Chapter 25
The fact that Harry Potter was going out with Ginny Weasley seemed to interest a great number of people, most of them girls, yet Harry found himself newly and happily impervious to gossip over the next few weeks. After all, it made a very nice change to be talked about because of something that was making him happier than he could remember being for a very long time, rather than because he had been involved in horrific scenes of Dark magic.
"You'd think people had better things to gossip about," said Ginny, as she sat on the common-room floor, leaning against Harry's legs and reading the Daily Prophet. "Three Dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it's true you've got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest."
Ron and Hermione both roared with laughter. Harry ignored them.
"What did you tell her?"
"I told her it's a Hungarian Horntail," said Ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. "Much more macho."
"Thanks," said Harry, grinning. "And what did you tell her Ron's got?"
"A Pygmy Puff, but I didn't say where."
Ron scowled as Hermione rolled around laughing.

But Ron's tolerance was not to be tested much as they moved into June, for Harry and Ginny's time together was becoming increasingly restricted. Ginny's O.W.L.s were approaching and she was therefore forced to revise for hours into the night. On one such evening, when Ginny had retired to the library and Harry was sitting beside the window in the common room, supposedly finishing his Herbology homework but in reality reliving a particularly happy hour he had spent down by the lake with Ginny at lunch-time, Hermione dropped into the seat between him and Ron...

Bringing Fez's question over from the last thread for those who haven't seen it.

Do you think Ginny will appear in the teaser? If there are any H/G moments do you think they'll appear in the teaser? Or even the trailer that's released next year?

Not sure about the teaser, I'll be disappointed if Ginny doesn't appear in the trailer next year. (Actually, I'm a little confused. What's the difference between the trailer and teaser?)

OotP is such a turning point, not only for her character but for her place in Harry's life as well. She becomes a good friend of his and it's the start of him seeing her in a whole new light, which is pivotal for the development of their romance in HBP. Since we were given the lovely insight into JKR's set up of the Cho/Ginny parallel (for lack of a better word) not long ago, it's fairly common knowledge that was her intention all along so I think it's likely the movie people understand that as well. It's doubtful we'll see any H/G moments, but hopefully some of Ginny's involvement at least. Aside from the shipping aspects of it, Ginny, Neville, and Luna are still extremely important for OotP with their involvement with the DA and Ministry fight. Hopefully we'll get glimpses of those scenes in the trailer/teaser.

Do you think Ginny will appear in the teaser? If there are any H/G moments do you think they'll appear in the teaser? Or even the trailer that's released next year?

I have to side with Amy here. I think we'll get a glimpse of Ginny but in connection with DA and not H/G.They're already making a big deal about the H/C kiss so i think that will be the focus when it comes to Harry's romance in the fifth one. But i'm still curious none the less what exactly we are going to get in the trailers.

Well a teaser is normally about a minute long i think while a trailer is about 2 minutes long.

Yeah, and a teaser usually comes out about 4 months before the official trailer just to tease us.

It's so weird to think that this time last year we were all fantasizing about getting our hands on HBP. Tomorrow it will be one year exactly since we got it!

It's going to be so exciting with the OotP teaser. My bet is we'll at least see Ginny, probably in connection to the DA or DoM. We saw her in one of the GoF trailers, with the funny hats at the QWC, didn't we? And since she has a much bigger role in this one, hopefully we'll get a glimpse. Nothing H/G, though. Like you guys said, I have a feeling they'll make a point of showing H/C in the trailer/teaser. I'm looking forward to seeing H/C just because I know how it ends. I think (if they do it right) it'll be really funny seeing Cho bursting into tears while Harry's just like "WTF?"

It's not the one year anniversary of HBP until next month, Elizabeth. It was July 16th it came out. My then 9-year-old niece hated that I referred to July (her b-day's 1st July) as the Harry Potter month!

I think we'll get a glimpse of Ginny maybe in the teaser if they show the D.A. or DoM. But, I don't think we'll get anything H/G and like you guys said it'll be H/C. But, if the movie does hint heavily at a G/H/C triangle to make up for Ginny's feelings being missing in the previous movies, then I can see that been glimpsed at in the trailer but not the teaser.

One more month and you can say that. And we'll all be partying along with you. Although, I may have a hangover that day (July 16th) because it will be the day after my bestfriend's wedding and lord knows how I'll be feeling.

Thanks for explaining the difference btw the teaser and trailer, ladies.

I'm so sad on July 16th I'll be in the car all day long, away from all the celebrations. But I'll have my copy of HBP with me for sure.

Just a random note- June 21st is the 3rd anniversary for OotP coming out.

I remember because my cousin got married that day and I saw it written on her calendar today at work. It's a day I'll always celebrate as well, because book 5 was when I knew without a doubt JKR was going to give us H/G in canon.

Well OotP took it's sweet little time getting to me. I had to wait till my brother gave up his copy to read it so the official date meant nothing to me. And to be honest, the official celebration of all things Leo didn't hit me until 3 days AFTER July 16th. That was when I finally got to The Kiss™ part. I'll never forget that day though. That was a good day.

I remember coming here trying to avoid any spoilers and just posting

Oh duh! Yeah, I should know that since HBP came out right before my bday. I think I was getting the OotP and HBP release dates confused.

Summer does this to me. All that being in the sun, you know.

I finished HBP so fast without meaning to. I was trying to go slow but when I got to the Kiss part I just flew the rest of the way through. Man, that was a good night.

One thing I will miss is the H/G high I was on last summer!

Four days for me was a record. I've never read so fast in my life. And I wanted to slow down but once the hints of H/G kept getting more obvious I couldn't help myself.

I hope we get something more squee about before next summer. That's an awfully long wait.

I read HBP in two days!

Yes, I'm proud of that since that's a record for me. It usually takes me 5 to 7 days to read a Harry Potter book. I just couldn't put HBP down plus I had already knew it was going to be H/G in this book through spoilers so I kept getting giddy with every hint that was proving the spoilers were right.

I promise to remain completely and utterly spoiler free for book seven though. There's too much gonna happen next book that I don't want spoiled on even H/G.

I think we'll get some squee moments before next summer. It just depends on what's leaked about the OotP movie before then. Plus the test screening would happen probably in March and remember the amount of spoilers that came out after the GoF screening! And the amount of pics! I know there was too many last film but if there's a lot showing Ginny or H/G together in a scene then I'll be happy!
