It is. I hope that person that did that pumpkin will do one for Ginny next year.

Actually I hope they do a Harry & Ginny pumpkin.

I bought Melissa's book today and while I haven't had a chance to read it all, I did flip through it. This bit is mentioned near the end of the book. It's on Albus Severus.

Spoiler:
Three times she talked about Albus Severus Potter, Harry's son from the Deathly Hallows epilogue, and how intriguing he was as a character.

"That's quite a name you gave him," I said. The shock that I'd been spoiled after all for the epilogue had worn off quickly. Though some fans felt the ending to the series turned out sappy, I thought it a fitting and touching tribute in light of the events of the book.

"I know. Albus Severus, could you imagine?"

"And Potter!"

"And Potter! The triple whammy of notoriety. Poor boy." She got a far off look. "He interests me most."

I raised an eyebrow, wondering if she had written about him, but stayed silent.

"Imagine having to go to Hogwarts bearing that name. Imagine that--even if your family calls you Al. Imagine having to walk to the headmaster's office and seeing those two portraits. Ha. Nothing to live up to--yeah, he's the one that really--but anyway."

I love Al

Thanks Rose! Finally something a bit newer. Harry Potter Wiki suggests maybe Rowling will write a new book?

It's probably from an article on Melissa's book in USA Today where Melissa suggested that.

The dream lives on. I don't think anybody here would object to a whole new series on Al. I doubt it will happen but I'd be very pleased eat my words if down the road she finds new inspiration and decides to just go for it. Her publishers would be thrilled too.

I have the book now too but the whole election kinda took over my attention these last couple of days. But now I have no excuses to read it now. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, this whole election pretty much made up for the distraction I needed from school since HBP has been pushed back. I am so happy Obama won. I was proud to vote on tuesday.

I think that, now that she's finished the series and can talk openly with people about the entire Big Picture, she's able to see certain things from other people's POV. In DH, there are a couple of moments that could certainly be twisted to suit a Harry/Hermione romance...were it not for the previous 6 books. R/Hr and H/G were introduced in Book 1, and Rowling never wavered from those paths. So by the time Book 7 rolled around, it was far too late for her to try and re-write Harry & Hermione's relationship, making it into a romantic one.

I think Rowling seemed shocked (as was I!) when she discovered the online world, and the world of Harry Potter shipping, and saw that people really believed that Harry and Hermione would eventually be a romantic couple. I don't think it ever occurred to her before then, simply because she had not created their relationship in that light, nor written any romantically-implied moments between them. Some people misinterpreted and began posting "evidence" for it - - and all along, she knew it was to be H/G (and R/Hr). It had to be strange for her.

So I think it was a very nice little gift for the Harmonians, for her to concede that something might have happened between Harry and Hermione in Book 7, were it not for Ginny, Ron, and 6 previous books of miscommunication/avoidance/no sexual attraction between Harry & Hermione.

MY favorite JKR quote was when she said that anyone still shipping H/Hr needed to "go back and re-read."

In my opinion, that was a worse slam than Emerson's delusional comment.

I agree with you.
You pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. Especially about the shipping world and the shipping wars. I was not around for it and was shocked to find out about it.

Really?!
Wow, when did she say that? I don't remember that quote.

I remember that quote. JKR did say that during the hbp interview with Emerson.

ETA: Thanks for the info about Al, Rose. I like it that JKR's tempted to write another book.

Must be a lot of reasons...we could only guess.

You can find it in Mugglenet, Kristi. I sometimes go back and reread it, there's a lot of lovely H/G quotes in there.

Uncomfortable, do you mean? Yeah he does. Poor Dan. Hopefully he'll be able to have children one day.

Now we need to see Ginny on her broom and in uniform.

Nicely said IceKat, I agree 100%.
