The latest Harry Potter News (Thread #4)

And as you were...

*brings over last post*

So from those figures it almost seems like less and less people are seeing the films at the movies. Although there seems to be more and more hype about the,m, and they get better and better.

And we were discussing the takings of the HP movies in case you weren't there.

good lord I always thought that PS was the one that grossed (sp?) less of the 3 movies.

yeah, and that shocks me I only went to see PS and CoS once and my sister twice, and PoA I saw it twice and my sister 4 times. And everybody I talk to they say they've seen PoA a lot more times than the other 2. Well, but those are the gross of US, right? We may need to see the world's, I bet in Spain PoA and CoS got a lot more than PS.

I think a lot of it has to do with the release date. The first two came out during the Thanksgiving holiday......well, they did in the U.S. anyway. I was a little concerned when I heard that PoA was going to be a summer release. I personally didn't think it would do as well as the previous Thanksgiving releases. (The first two also both played through the Christmas holidays, which is very profitable.)

I noticed that they're planning to release GoF during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2005. Perhaps they too found the significance.

yeah, I think you are right. I live in Spain, and the two previous movies were released in Christmas, and here people go a lot more to the cinema in xmas

Anyone know where you can go to see a clip of Alexa Vega crushing out on Rupert on TRL yesterday?

It seems that Alexa admitted to having a crush on Rupert Grint while she was on MTV's TRL yesterday. Sadly, I missed it.

It's rather amazing to see that PS made more money than the other two. I thought PoA would've done better.

Well PoA has only been open a month. Those figures are for the entire theatrical run of each film. PoA is doing impressively by comparison.

Thanks for the grosses update.

I was concerned when I saw that PoA made less than the other two in the first few weeks, but on the other hand, WB is not going to miss out on a over $200 million picture. Curious to see how GoF is going to do.

Maybe the half blood prince is Godric Gryffindor. After all, he was in book 6 (in a manner of speaking) and it was his sword that Harry pulled out to help him defeat Riddle. And Gryffindor fought against Slytherin.

I always wondered if Harry was related to Gryffindor through either James or Lily (or both). Voldemort is the last descendant of Sltherin - maybe Harry is the last descendant of Gryffindor?

Actually the grosses for PoA should read June 2004 to July 2004. . . not June 2003 to July 2004. What that means is that PoA has made a crapload of money in ONE MONTH, as compared to the grosses for the first two movies, which span a matter of years. When all is said and done...PoA is out on DVD...it'll have far surpassed the other two.

You mean book 2.

We don't have any reason to think that Godric was wither a half-blood or a prince, though.

I am curious about Godric Gryffindor. It would make a lot of sense and also is connected to Book 2 in a lot of ways. What do we know about Godric Gryffndor? True, it doesn't say he was a half-blood or a prince, but it also DOESN'T not say that. I'm thinking its one of those things JK is going to reveal in the next book.

I found this on the Sidekicks thread.

Quote:
Awe cute. That Alexa Vega girl just restated her crush on Rupert in her Access Hollywood interview tonight. And they had a picture of him (a scene from POA) in the corner of the screen for those viewers who might not know who he is.
This is the second time Alexa has gone on national television and announced her crush on Rupert!

Alexa Vega is the girl in the Spy Kid movies (Carmen Cortez). I don't know if you've seen them, but they were very popular here in the U.S. She's been in the news because she has a new movie coming out--Sleepover.
