Newell to remain true to the book

Goblet of Fire Director Mike Newell has stated in Movie Magic magazine that he intends to stay true to the book.

Fans were hit by rumours that the new film was going to be around 4 hours long with an intermission however this has been quashed by rumours of a meer two and a half hour film. Newell stated that:

"We're going to be true to the book," says Newell. "We want fans of the book to be thrilled with this movie. We aren't cutting any corners - this is a story that's going to be told."
Stay true to the book? The book is 900-something page long, so is he saying the movie version will be as long? Anywho, it sounds like good news to me.

cool! I like that he is staying true to the book, and for me it means not like PoA but more like PS... I loved PoA and I loved all the jokes added by Alfonso, but I missed the book, for me PoA was more like somethign based in 4 main things, and the rest totally made up, and I didn't like it. PS was better for me, it's my fave movie of all 3. Some people say it was horrible because the kids didn't act very well, and the special effects were awful and fake, etc etc.. but I don't see it that way, it's about the feeling that the movies give me, and PS was the most comfortable and HP-ish ever, it would have been cool if Chris had added some personal things, but the essence of true HP was there. I hope GoF will have curious and funny things like PoA, but I want more book things, I want to see the esssence again, an essence that I didn't perceive very much in CoS nor in PoA.

More confirmation: Nair asked to direct OOTP
Following up on the rumor started on the Brazilian entertainment site Cinema em Cena, the Delhi Times was able to interview Mira Nair, who offered further confirmation that Warner Bros. has asked her to direct the fifth movie. She added:

"I read it over the weekend. I'm still deciding... I'm not letting all this go to my head. I'm grounded. I practise detachment, it helps me keep my balance." ... "I'm a Dilliwalli, only an asana gets me on my head! My son Zoharan's excited. I've seen all the Harry Potter movies with him."

Jamie Waylett's account of Oxford filming
Jamie Waylett has updated the diary on his official website, JamieWaylett.com , telling about his experience at Oxford, where several scenes from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire were filmed.

"As usual it rained, it seems that it always rains when we are on location. I spent nearly the whole week filming just one scene with Maggie Smith, Brendan Gleeson, Tom [Felton], Josh [Herdman] and Dan [Radcliffe]. It was great fun, I really enjoyed it.

"Brendan Gleeson was great, he is very friendly, funny man who plays the part of Mad-Eye Moody.

"As you will know, I'm not allowed to say too much about the filming, but I think that scene could turn out to be one of the funniest scene in all of the movies!"

The ver reliable Alex, the HP Board's official news reporter!

Thanks for those!
Oh, and also, where did you find the names of the actresses who'd play Padma & Parvarti?

thanks well, and thanks to those people who post news under a [quote] tag because I will do that from now on, it's a great idea

I have heard the name of Padma (Kobie Hunte) several times here in Spain, I can't remember where sorry.. and also if you type "Padma Sitara Shah" in google you get the name of Padma's actress (as well as Parvati's) in some webpages, like in an Italian one that I found yesterday

of course maybe it's not true, I don't know.. but I've always believed it since I have heard it several times

i dun want them to change the movie from the book..i LOVE books so much and dont need to read/see them in other scenes which never happened..
when i watched 3rd movie,i felt like it was 3,5.not 3rd..

I know what you mean guys *nods* it annoys me that the producers say the movies have to be shorter than 2 and a half hours just because the parents say so I mean.. what? Who are the fans here? Everyone who is a fan wants the movies to be longer, even my 54-year-old aunt who is a HP super freak like me and my lil sister and my lil cousin, wants the movies to be longer. Why nobody complained about the lenght of TLOTR and everyone seems to be against HP? I don't get it and it pisses me off we are the fans, we are the freaky ones who spend million in watching the movies 4 or 5 times, so they must listen to us.

hey! and I just got the "Double trouble" song from Kazaa, yipi!!! it took ages, because Sadé posted it a long time ago but I was never able to download it... and it wasn't in kazaa, but now it is! so if anyone wants it maybe you can find my account in kazaa and steal it okay, just borrow it

I have a good "parent" exemple.

When I was coming back from PoA premiere here and I was waiting for the bus. The lady right behind me started saing something to the one beside her like "how long does it take?"... a few moments after I realised she was talking about the movie. I did the accounts on my watch from the time I entered the cinema till the time I left (because, of course I only left after the credits were over) and said to her. So she told me she was worried if she was on time to pick up her son.

She came all the way on the bus by my side and telling me about her son and how this year he was "big enough" to go by himself.

I also have to say. There was absolutly no parents at the premiere and hardly any parents in the other sessions I saw the movie (and they were pretty crowded sessions). So why the heck would they care? I agree with Alex, if we are the ones that pays them the money, why would they care? Or will your parent say you won´t go to the movies if this or that movie is shorter?

Has anybody told James Cameron Titanic should be shorter? I doubt it!

exactly...

when I went to see the movie I went with 3 other people, my sister, her friend and my friend Cris (newbies' mod) and MY parents drove us to the cinema, how could they say they wouldn't? even though they called us obsessed freaks they drove us anyway and there wer every few adults in the room (it was full, like 800 people) but those parents were as excited as their kids. It was all a great environment and super cool, and when the movie ended we all applaused and I could cry of seing all those good vibes between total strangers. And I could hear people in front of me saying "Is it over? Already?" and me myself thought PoA should have been longer
There are no parents who would ban their children to see the movie just because it's too long, when parents don't want their kids to see somethign it's because of things like obscenity, violence, politics, etc.. but the lenght doesn't matter, and if they did the movies longer everyone would thank them a lot and make us happier

My parents haven´t complained about me staying 16 hours non-stop reading OotP, why would they forbid me for going to the movies for 3 hours?

People have to stop being so hypocritical!

:applause: for Alex!
