It never crossed my mind that Snape likes Lily even though it was established that they were friends when they were kids.

They're both making a potion. And they are okay there. I usually find fanarts where Lily's dead or Snape is jealous over James/Lily.

I think he was because James & Lily were getting closer and his friendship with Lily was fading away. Of course Lily had no idea about his feelings because he kept that all to himself.
