"Fantasy Adventure. Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.”

Thanks for the new thread Kristi.

The DVD release is getting closer! I can't wait to finally have it so that I can watch it over and over until I have to buy a new one.

I'm so excited I've been counting down the days (yes I am that obsessed). There are 19 more days to go before I get it.

So I just got back from seeing HBP for the second time and once again I LOVED it! But I was wondering about what Dumbledore says after he and Harry watch Slughorn's true memory. I don't think I noticed/gave it much thought before, but he says something along the lines of "this is beyond anything I imagined". Maybe I'm missing something or am remembering wrongly from the book, but at that point Dumbledore already knew about the horcruxes. In the movie that line makes it seem like he was just realizing it... or were they trying to convey his shock at Voldemort's plan to make seven of them? I don't know if I'm making myself very clear, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about/could clear this up that'd be great. It just seemed like a continuity error, but I could be wrong.

I think it was necessary to have that because the real revelation of the soul dividing was in the OotP book so the audience needed to see this since it wasn't in OotP film they moved it to HBP. They're always shifting these kind of things because perhaps something that subtle back in OotP would have been completely lost on the audience so it's more relevant to show it in HBP.

I definitley understand/agree that it is better placed in HBP for the purpose of not confusing the audience, but isn't it a bit odd that Dumbledore would be having this revelation considering he already knew about the diary, ring, locket, and cup? Of course these aren't all given explanations in the film, but they do make it clear why Dumbledore destroyed the ring and that he'd figured out the diary was one of the horcruxes. In the book we know that Dumbledore was already trying to figure out what/where the remaining horcruxes were- are they changing that for the film? If so, in DH they're going to have to figure out how Harry will get a lead on the other horcruxes being related to the four houses of Hogwarts.

Also, I love the moment in the film that foreshadows Harry being a horcrux. Now I haven't read DH for a while, but obviously the scene in which Dumbledore tells Snape this is in The Prince's Tale even though it actually happens during HBP. So at what point in the timeline does Dumbledore tell Snape? Is it right before Harry comes to Dumbledore's office to leave for the cave?
I think I need to reread the last two books again..
