COS Book Discussion Thread

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
This thread is for the discussion of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book.

Please keep on topic to only the plot of the second book so you don't spoil any newcomers to the rest of the series who haven't read any further. Thanks.

So i've started reading The Chamber of Secrets. This is the first time I've read it and so far I love it. I love how Harry gets to experience what family life is like with Ron and the rest of the Weasley's. It's entertaining.

I loved the gnome part. Throwing them in the air so they get dizzy and can't find their way back to the holes they came from! Too funny!

I love Chamber of Secrets. Harry's time with the Weasley family is so wonderful. Hope you enjoy it.

I've been rereading this one. I'm almost done, I think I only have like 15 more pages to go. I always really enjoyed this book, still remains one of my favorites.

I finished this book about a week ago, but haven't had time to make some comments!

I really loved this book. It was well done. I completely didn't clue in to the Tom Riddle/Volemort character. That was a sneaky idea! I also would never have guessed that Ginny would have been the one to unlock the Chamber!

All in all. It was a great read! The movie was good too, but the movie cuts out quite a few scenes from the book. Small scenes but good ones!

it does cut out scenes but it's nothing compare to the amount cut out ootp onwards - which is why i began to loose interest in them after POA. I still watch them, but I don't anticipate them and I always come out of the cinema filling in the gaps in the story.

Hey guys, I need some help

I am writing my bachelor's thesis right (in short, it's about names in literature) and I need a quote from Chamber of Secrets:

TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE
....
I AM LORD VOLDEMORT

I need the words inbetween of that, I need the page number as well as the source (author: book title; city: publisher, year)

If anybody could help me out, I would be very, very grateful. I could get the quote myself, but I don't have access to the English book right now. Also, the quote is from chapter 17, if that helps.

I'm assuming this is what you're looking for:

Then he waved the wand once, and the letters of his name rearranged themselves.

Chamber of Secrets, page 231

Hope that helps.

Chamber of Secrets was the first Harry Potter book I ever read, so it will always have a place in my heart as being the one which got me interested in the series (this was before the films, wow... I'm getting old). I always remember that I had to choose a book to read in class at school, and was intrigued by the image of a blue car flying through the air, with two boys and an owl in it. I enjoyed the start of the book and so borrowed it and it all started from there.
I'm now re-reading the book yet again, and loving it as usual. As a few people have said here, I too love reading Harry's time at the Weasley household. I agree, Melissa Ann, that scene with the Gnomes is so funny!

I agree with you. I was late to reading the books. I only started when CoS (movie) came out. And I haven't looked back since.
