The Unforgivable Curses were three of the most powerful and sinister spells known to the wizarding world. They were tools of the Dark Arts and were first classified as "Unforgivable" in 1717, with the strictest penalties attached to their use. The three curses consisted of the Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra), Cruciatus Curse (Crucio), and Imperius Curse (Imperio).

Yes they're different. Here you go:

1. The Cruciatus Curse (Crucio): Inflicts excruciating pain on the recipient of the curse (tortures them).
2. The Imperius Curse (Imperio): Causes the victim to perform the unquestioned bidding of the caster.
3. The Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra): Causes instant and painless death.

We have to consider that it wasn't actually Moody that brought them up in Class, it was Barty Crouch Jr., so that would explain things. He was not a very nice guy

I go back and forth with this but I think these spells should not be taught in school but students should me made aware about these spells and what they can do to avoid using them haphazardly (like the torture spell).

They can practice caution at Hogwarts I guess as long as the spells are just taught and not conjured/used. Moody (who's really Barty Crouch) used the spells to demonstrate to the class and Hermione was opposed to it, Ron wasn't. I do think it's important for them to learn it but showing them how it works is a no-no for me.
