Most likely. Grindelwald and Dumbledore are friends. Maybe Dumbledore has mentioned Newt to Grindelwald?

That's why we need some backstory on Grindelwald & Dumbledore. The fact that Jude Law is actually cast means we'll get some scenes with him and hopefully with Grindelwald/Johnny Depp.

Yes nothing major yet so I think part 2 will give us more about him and his friendship with Dumbledore.
