Okay, saw this online and thought that it would be good to discuss: Harry is sorted into Gryffindor, along with Ron and Hermione. How do you think the story would have changed if they hadn’t been placed in the same house? Do you think Harry would have still succeeded against the obstacles without Ron and Hermione?

Erm, I'm not sure. I can't imagine Harry succeeding without Ron & Hermione, but, at the same time, I think if Neville had been more confident he would've been part of the group too. (I think abruptly moving in with his grandparents at 16-18 months old might have had something to do with him not showing magic until he was 7/8.)

Same. I don't think Harry can do this on his own. But I'm forever grateful that he met Ron & Hermione because he needed them both in different capacities. At the end of his Hogwarts year, he was fighting alongside them and with more help. So I think these two have really shaped Harry's life.

Same here, Catia. There are times when I think Harry couldn't have done the task if it weren't for Hermione. And I can say the same for Ron. Remember, Wizard's Chess? It's a good thing Ron's a fair player. If Hermione was the only person Harry was with that time, it probably wouldn't end well for them.

And I really loved how their personalities just went well when they all met. Granted Ron wasn't Hermione's biggest fan but eventually the 3 clicked. The boys needed Hermione mostly for homework & assignments but she didn't mind.

And I'm not just saying Harry needed Hermione for his homeworks and assignments. He was the typical boy back then about school (much like Ron). But there were some things that needed Hermione's way with books and thinking and Ron's smarts. I'm glad that Harry can't figure it all out of his own and needed his friends and that's really the strength of this friendship.

Yea, I know what you meant. I think that, like in everything in life, you are always better with good friends around you than just on your own. They both helped Harry a lot, and sometimes they did that just by being there him and defending him.

At the same time there are things that Ron & Hermione won't be able to do without Harry. That's really the beauty of this friendship and the reason why everyone loves the trio so much.
Over the weekend, I'll think of a new discussion. __________________

Alright, changed the thread title to the new discussion. I'd love to hear what everyone's thoughts about this are.
