HBP Movie Discussion

It might be a little early yet but hey why not. Here you can discuss the up coming Half Blood Prince movie. Speculations, Casting Rumours whatever.

The Internet Movie Database is reporting that actor Christian Coulson is currently in negotiations to star in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Coulson played Tom Marvolo Riddle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Take this rumour with a grain of salt until we receive confirmation from Warner Bros.
I'm excited at even the rumour that negotiations are starting for this film. Perhaps this could confirm that the do plan to go right into HBP filming as soon as OotP wraps.

Wow wasn't expecting this on the board... It will be interesting how they do HBP, although i love the book its a bit of a transition book isn't it, setting the scene for the final story....

I'm quite excited about the final chapters of the book with Dumbledore, return of some of the DA andthe funeral. It should make for a exciting ending. Its also going to be nice to see Harry relax, although briefly for a little while....

Is there many new characters? My brain is drawing a blank, I mean with Ootp we get beatrix, tonks etc, but HBP doesn't really have many new ones so I really really hope everyone comes back for the final 2 films!

I would love it if Coulson came back, he was very good for Tom Riddle, and the fact that they are discussing this even thogh movie 5 isnt even over has got to be sign that they are going to include all the current actors right?
I cant wait for the 6 movie, throughout reading the book I kept imagining the movie and how amazing it is going to be since we get to see the inferni and young tom riddle!

Well there's Slughorn and the new Minsiter of Magic Scrimgeour, Tom Riddle's grandfather, mother and uncle. Plus some other minor parts. But yeah most of the major players have all been introduced by OotP. There's Greyback too. His discription was frightening.

I would wager that all will return again. Poor Jason Issacs won't have much to do though. I remember he commented on his character's being stuck in Askaban, and that he hoped the movie script would change to get him out.

I agree Pottyaboutharry, Coulson was so great as Tom Riddle it would make perfect sense for him to reprise his role, and I read once where he was hoping to be asked back because he would love it.

Yes, they definetly should do what they can to get Coulson back to play Tom Riddle. I thought he did really well in CoS and he fits the Riddle description so well.

I was just listening to the audio tapes today and thinking about how intense the scenes will be at the end, everything from Harry forcing Dumbledore to drink the potion and being attacked by the Inferi to the flight of Snape, Draco, and the Death Eaters. And the funeral scene? I imagine I'll cry more than I ever have before in a theater.

I was thinking that, I loved him as Tom, and now that he's older, he'll be even more perfect.

Well he'll still have to play a teenager since he'll only been seen in a pensieve memory but I don't see that to be any problem. He's very youthful looking.

And hot.

Yeah I'm thinking he may not play that part though. I'd rather see Ralph Fiennes come in for that. But maybe Chris could pull it off. The character is sort of in between the ages of Ralph and Chris so it's a tough call.

I don't know. Ralph works for the older Voldie because by that time, his features are so nondescript, hair and skin I mean, that he could look like anyone. But as a your Riddle, the actor would have to have the dark features and stong face, be very handsomely manly. IMO They need someone young, dark, and strong for that.

For God's sake, let that be a rumor! I'm probably alone on this, but I've had enough ot Christian's weak and unnatural portrayal of Tom/Voldemort in Chamber of Secrets. Hopefully, they'll cast another actor.

And I share the excitement, Amy. Even though it's just a rumour, it involves HBP. We didn't even get OotP yet, but it's always exciting to hear news about the movies.

Nah I think they should stick with the same actor. Keep it consistant and I'd have to disagree, I think Chris did an amazing job as Tom. His eyes sold it for me. Very penetrating and wicked. Yum.
