Because more than anything what's important to Voldemort is to kill Harry so even if he can sense Snape, what's Snape going to do? Voldemort would've found out anyway and probably kill him in the process. If that happened, we wouldn't find out Snape saved Harry so I think Snape was being very careful not to use Occlumency too often (he's also a teacher and teaching Legilmency as I recall is legally restricted). To quote Snape in OotP;

"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by any invader. The mind is a complex and many-layered thing... It is true, however, that those who have mastered Legilimency are able, under certain conditions, to delve into the minds of their victims and to interpret their findings correctly."

This book was one for me exciting and emotionally draining especially with Dumbledore's death. It really hit me hard as I was hoping he will survive all of this and fight with Harry until the end. I really enjoyed the reveal of the Half Blood Prince. I wasn't expecting it.

This one was Dumbledore's death but to see everything come together associated to Voldemort plus Draco's mission so much happened in this

I really like this book too inspite of Dumbledore's death. I don't know why I was more upset over Sirius' death than Dumbledore though. I think it was because of what he means to Harry and that he was his family that made the death unacceptable for me. I also had no idea who the HBP was so I was surprised with the reveal towards the end.

I think that most knew that Dumbledore going to die bec he has poisoning or something like that..

I think when I read this book it was leading up to that but I was still upset when it happened.

At the back of my mind I was thinking Dumbledore was going to survive it. He's a good and powerful wizard. He can't die. But he did. It was heartbreaking.

In the long run yes. Same with Dumbledore. They both sacrificed their lives for Harry so he can live and be able to defeat Voldemort.
