I do like that they pointed it out. Book readers will be quick to spot that. It's also like that additional "toothpaste" scene with Ginny & Harry in HBP that wasn't in the book.

The toothpaste scene is the one with RHr. I mixed it up.

Was it because Harry wasn't using magic in-front of muggles so he got away with this?

No one caught him doing it and it wasn't like he was using magic in-front of the Dursleys.
