"Fantasy Adventure. Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was.
Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.

That was when the Death Eaters invaded the Burrow and torched everything. This part (burning of the Burrow) wasn't in the book though.

I think they wanted it to be very dramatic in the movie and that's why they had the Burrow burned down.

Kinda like with HBP when they had Snape tell Harry he was the HBP, it added the drama flair to have Snape tell Harry instead.
