Actually, I'll fail any task of these and I know understand McGonaglle feelings when she was worried and fearful the moment she heard about Harry 14-year-old boy who was being unwillingly joining the competitors. Those tasks are pretty difficult and scary even for 17-year-old participants

That's another thing I wanted to discuss. Dumbledore let Harry compete because the Cup is final and the games are catered to 4 champions now so technically Harry can't also back out. But what exactly happens if Harry doesn't compete?

Some fans speculate that it's like the unbreakable Vow if you broke it, you'll die.. May be indeed it's a similar case here too as always being referred to binding magical contract.

Plus from the looks of it, the game was catered for 4 champions (because Harry was picked) so if Harry doesn't join, the games won't push through. I do have to give credit to Barty Crouch Jr though for being very smart about all of this.
