Great icons there and no I don't think that they intentionally picked them cos they look alike. Just a coincidence.

The correct term for the Oedipus complex was when the boy around the age of 4 has a strong affection for his mother, or the next older female. He just develops charm and all that, compliments, jealousy and what not. It has little to do with wanting to meet a girl like your mother.

That sickens me, I would never want to marry a chick like my mom. Ew. Who says that and insists that it's true?

Anyway Ginny is in someways like Lily, but Harry happens to like a girl who can stand on her own two feet.

She's like Hermione for brainy stuff...nothing like Luna though.

Exactly, Kevin. Harry has always admired Ginny's strong personality, her ability to stand as an individual, think on her feet. She has also shown many times that she knows, for lack of a better term, how to deal with Harry (his weird moods, his humor, etc). She can definitely stand on her own two feet, right next to her man.
Plus Harry doesn't like weepy chicks, which Ginny most definitely is not.

Understandable reaction. I wouldn't want to marry a guy like my Dad... nyyyhhhhh...

Harry's pimp hand was tremblin' when he was getting fed up with Cho's crying.

I mean Harry's got a rough ride ahead of him, doesn't want no girl crying over him.

It was rather pointless for him to pull a Peter Parker on her in HBP. I am sure half the wizarding world knows he was dating Ginny Weasley. Slughorn has a very big mouth, even said it out loud in potions class I bet.

I kind of wanted to whack Cho in the face with a box of tissues, her crying annoyed the hell out of me, and Harry too. Ginny was a breath of fresh air, gave him an idea what normal, hormonally balanced girls are like- between Cho and Hermione he probably thought he was going to drown in their tears one day.

I agree about the Peter Parker move. Didn't everyone already know about H/G, Harry himself said that the whole freakin' school was gossiping about it. Way to be noble and use that brain, Harry. Good thing Ginny's awesome and ignored your stupidity.

I know what you mean. Harry probably was going to remain single forever if he hadn't met Ginny. Cho is too whiny and Hermione is too psychotic. Ginny, she's just holding her own.

Ginny just took it as a stupid noble thing.

"Okay I get it, you don't want me coming with you, but I am going to wreak havoc while you are gone."

As much as we love Harry, he has done some pretty stupid things. Makes him realistic.

I could see his heroic reasoning behind it, but it didn't stop me from rolling my eyes- he knows Ginny can take care of herself, but even then he cared about her too much to even risk it for a second.

And so she did, my friend. And so she did.

But, you're right, all the stupid things Harry does makes him a great character, and he's actually he one of my favorites, along with Ginny of course.

i am suprised Voldemort didn't go after her.

He was asked and said "No too cliche, I am going wand shopping."

Well, quite frankly, Voldemort forgot to pull his head out of his ass, so, that lovely option of capturing Ginny comic book style didn't really cross his mind. Ginny would have been prepared anyway. Pepper spray, I know it.

Yes, wand shopping was first on that pink and silver spangled list Lucius drew up for him, wasn't it.

Still think it was stupid.

Your icons are beautiful, Laura. Nice to see some new Ginny icons.

The Ginny and Lily similarities, honestly, I think Jo was trying to be cute and funny with the parallels between Harry/Ginny and James/Lily. She did the same with Molly/Arthur and Ron/Hermione. I strongly doubt there was ever anything sinister in her mind when she did it. She probably just thought it was clever and a fun way to foreshadow the couples. Anyone who sees something sick in the parallels is looking waaaay too into it.

I agree that Bonnie looks quite a bit like the actress they got for Lily. I think that was a coincidence, though.
