- Ginevra Molly Weasley -

The name "Ginevra" is Italian form of Guinevere. The name "Guinevere" is the old French form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar, which is composed of the elements gwen meaning "fair, white" and hwyfar meaning "smooth". In Arthurian legend she is the beautiful wife of King Arthur.

The youngest of seven and the only daughter of the Weasley family. Ginny Weasley was born on August 11th, 1981. She was the first Weasley girl to be born for several generations, growing up with six older brothers: Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron.

Ginny joined Hogwarts in 1992 and was placed in Gryffindor, the traditional home for students who value and possess courage and bravery. Although her first year was far from a success and had made her an easy target of Lord Voldemort himself, she returned for her second year willing and determined to start off with a fresh slate. As she grew older, her self-confidence increased, and she refused to let others get the best of her. It became evident that she had a fierce temper and could be unkind when angered. those who attended Hogwarts knew better then to cross the fiery redhead, and even her older brothers became weary of her infamous bat bogey hex. Ginny also happened to be very thoughtful and sympathetic. Making good friends with Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom in her fourth year, she proved herself to be a very loyal friend. Also clever, understanding and willing to help, in her fourth year she proves herself rather insightful and very capable of talking sense into Harry when he is too angry for others to deal with.

In the later books, Ginny began turning the heads of many boys. No longer the shy, timid creature she was in her first year, Ron voiced that she had become "too popular for her own good". She eventually joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team, becoming one of the best chasers there. and securing the House cup for Gryffindor in her fifth year.

When she was younger, Ginny had nursed a crush on Harry for four years before winning his heart and becoming his girlfriend in her fifth year and then later on his wife. She was a celebrated player on the all-girls Holyhead Harpies Quidditch team before she retired to raise her family and become the Senior Quidditch Correspondent for the Daily Prophet.

"She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. I think she's funny, and I think that she's very warm and compassionate. I really like Ginny as a character."

- Bonnie Francesca Wright -

Bonnie Francesca Wright was born to Gary Wright and Sheila Teague Wright, on February 17, 1991, in London, England. She has one older brother, named Lewis. Bonnie enjoys a multitude of different sports, including football, swimming, tennis, riding, ice skating, surfing and cycling. She is also very artistic and loves dancing (modern, ballet and African), working with clay, singing, and various musical instruments such as the guitar, saxophone, harmonica and recorder. Bonnie likes to travel, which she does a lot of, seeing as she has visited Finland, America, Australia, Africa, India, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Germany and France. Her favorite school subjects are art and science and her role model is actress Nicole Kidman. Bonnie began her acting career when she was cast as Ginny Weasley in the film Harry Potter and the Philosophers' Stone, playing the fiery-headed younger sister to the title character Harry's best friend.

- Her parents run a very successful jewelery store ~ Wright & Teague
- She can do RP, Cockney, Yorkshire and Australian accents.
- Her agent says she is a very good singer.
- When she was told that she'd landed the role of Ginny she screamed out of the car window all the way up the motorway. LOL.
- If she could steal anything from the set it would either be her wand or a Weasley jumper.
- She is a big fan of fashion and considers Miuccia Prada to be her style icon.
- If she could play any other Harry Potter character it would be Professor McGonagall because she adores Maggie Smith.
- She loves the behind the scenes aspects of film making and plans to study directing at the University of the Arts.
- Other then Julie Walters and Mark Williams she gets along exceptionally well with Micheal Gambon who she says is "always good fun" on set.

"Ginny was quite shy in the beginning, but as the films go on, she’s gotten more outgoing and feisty. That’s more like me – I’m not a very shy type of a person, and so she’s gotten closer to who I am, really."

New thread! Although to be technical and fair, Ugly Naked Guy was never a stranger! They saw him naked in all shapes and forms practically every day. That does not a true stranger make.

First off, thank you SONAL! For all of this, and thank your friend too! We're all very, very grateful for this.

Now about this quote.

Again, I think her main point here is referring to Harry's chosen one status and how Ginny treats Harry when it comes to it. She ends it with explaining that's how they come together. The way it was worded here is a bit weird though as there's no reference to her more spunky/feisty side, so it sounds as if she's just a calm person. But Bonnie has made mention of her feisty side in the past, so I think this is a situation of Bonnie only talking about one aspect of Ginny and not mentioning anything else.

I don't think she's entirely incorrect here either. Ginny can be very calm with Harry. The library scene in OotP, the scene where she takes his hand after Dumbledore dies, the scene after Moody dies where they hold hands and even when she gives Harry the birthday kiss. There is that side to Ginny. It's clearly not her most obvious side and it's not what most people remember, but it seems like Yates wanted to emphasize it more than anything else. I can see why some people were disappointed with this and think movie!Ginny fails, especially if they wanted to see the more feisty side of Ginny. But what we got was what Yates wanted for his movie. His Ginny is different from Jo's, but he was taking bits of Jo's character to make her...but like Sanum said, all the movie characters are toned down. They lose a bit of that extra flair that makes them who they are in the books. It doesn't help that Ginny didn't get the OotP movie to build up either.

That's from Friends right Sanum? Anyway onto Rose's post, that's a very good point and what Sanum on the last thread is true as well. All the characters are toned down to a certain degree as well. It's no different with Ginny. Though I still think if her character in OotP was built up like it was in the book more we would have seen a bit more of her fiesty side in HBP. Since we didn't I think Yates played up Ginny's calm and softer side in HBP film.

Not only that, Ross got naked with him in order to sublet his apartment. I'm sure he was on a first name basis with UNM by then. And when the stranger from New Zealand finally gets on board, she'll have a name too. (Although, I'd love it if she registered as Stranger from New Zealand.)

I agree with Rose and Sanum about the characterization of Ginny and the other characters in the movies. Not everyone will be satisfied but I think most of use are.
