The name "Guinevere" is the old French form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar, which is composed of the elements gwen meaning "fair, white" and hwyfar meaning "smooth". In Arthurian legend she is the beautiful wife of King Arthur. The youngest of seven and the only daughter of the Weasley family. Ginny Weasley was born on August 11th, 1981. She was the first Weasley girl to be born for several generations, growing up with six older brothers: Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron. Ginny joined Hogwarts in 1992 and was placed in Gryffindor, the traditional home for students who value and possess courage and bravery. | Yeah, never good to have a third wheel. The trio had to end soon, especially with Ron and Hermione getting closer. Harry being a third wheel is awkward and creepy. It's all part of life, moving on. I guess they never considered that the books are not frozen in time, that they will eventually split up. Obviously they are still close, but they have families now. | |||

| Ditto on everything CHH, Kyle & Kevin said. Well, I feel lucky that I discovered the HP internet fandom very late in the game, just after the release of OOTP movie/DH. I'm in my very secluded corner of the world, and I enjoyed the books for what it is, not being clouded by the Shipping Wars & the endless theories and whatnot. The first time I even encountered seeing that there are other "ship" other than what's canon even boggled me a bit, but to each his own. But what really surprised me was the negativity and outright dislike for characters that are supposed to be good ones... Yeah, that still confused me to this day... I once read a fic that had a line something along the lines of this: "Ginny and Ron were still close, but she didn't know him as well or care about him as much as Hermione and Harry did." I remember feeling a twinge of irritation at that, not just on Ginny's behalf, but on behalf of all of the Weasleys, because they are Ron's family, for heaven's sake. Yes, Harry and Hermione are Ron's best friends, and they love him very much... but Ron's family knew him and loved him long before Harry and Hermione came along, and that's not anything to sneeze at. I guess I just didn't like seeing Ron's relationship with his sister, and by extension his entire family, dismissed like that. And it's not even canon: When Ron was in the hospital wing after being poisoned, Harry and Hermione were the ones who left so that Ron's family could be alone with him; it wasn't Ron's family leaving so that Harry and Hermione could be alone with him. And Harry and Hermione certainly didn't seem to have the attitude "We are the Golden Trio, we get priority over you, even if you are his family." No, they were very respectful and considerate of Ron's relationship with his family.Okay, I've wandered incredibly off-topic... *pulls self back* Anyway, yes, I the trio's friendship. It's unquestionably the central relationship in the books, and I would never have wanted that to change. But I really dislike the attitude that Ron and Hermione always have to come first with Harry, and that there's something inherently wrong with the idea that Ginny might be able to offer something to Harry that they can't. Just as Harry can get things from his friendship with Ron and Hermione that he can't get anywhere else, there are things he can get from his relationship with Ginny that he can't get anywhere else (and I'm not just talking about the snogging), not even from Ron and Hermione, however much he loves them. And I don't see why some have such a problem with that. One comment about the picture, then I'll be quiet: Harry is definitely looking at Ginny, and she has definitely just said something LOL-worthy. | Readers should pay attention more to other characters instead of narrowing it down to the trio. Ginny and Neville were bound to come out of their shell. I thought her crush on Harry will somewhat he resolved. | |||
