I like him and in a way I don't. I wish they'd have chosen someone a little more low key and with a hairstyle that weren't so dramatic

as soon as they showed the back of his head in the beginning of the movie i had a feeling he was going to be connected to colin's character since they both had the same look going

Looks like's he's the big bad in the movies. I want some backstory on him and it also looks like we'll get more of his relationship/friendship with Dumbledore in part 2 which I'm excited for. I want to see him kill Ariana and then Dumbledore killing him eventually.

Tbf when I saw the back of his head I was really excited! I knew it was going to be him and it was a great start for the villain of the franchise.

Producers have said his backstory will play out in the next two films. That Dumbledore's story will be included. But technically Dumbledore's killed his sister, the spell came from his wand. Grindelwald just deflected it. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I remember from the book.

I don't think it will skip all those years towards Voldemort killing him though. And I don't think they will change his death in this film.

I'm also hoping that now they've done Harry Potter and Grindelwalds / Dumbledore's story, that they will venture into other things within the world. So Harry's parents at school. Starting from Lupin being bit in his bed as a child, to Snape dealing with being bullied, James and Sirius helping Lupin out when he changes, making the map, becoming animagi, introducing James and Lily relationship etc the villain could be Voldemort on his first rise to power.

Or they could do a franchise on the teachers of Hogwarts, or another wizarding school. Etc. There's just so much they can get in this franchise to fill the timeline out.

This is all 70 years before Harry Potter so the most we can touch on is Dumbledore. I do hope that in the very last movie we can fast forward to the time Newt & Tina are grandparents and we see a young Rolf Scamander going to Hogwarts and then a brief pan to Luna, they don't know each other that time too, but it's a great connection to HP many years later.

Muriel thinks Albus killed Ariana but it was never stated in the books that Dumbledore accidentally killed her or Jo confirmed it was actually Albus. In my canon head, I'd prefer it to be Gellert really. But maybe we get a definitive answer in the movie?

I don't want Harry Potter alluded to at all in this fantastic beasts series. Harry Potter is done it should be left alone. But as I said when this series is done I want other parts of the world explored.

Hopefully we do get an answer then, because since I read the book the day it came out I've had it in my mind that whilst dueling Dumbledore's spell backfired. Grindelwald went on to be his usual self and Dumbledore became grief stricken.

True. I had checked but Jo didn't say exactly who did that. I prefer it's DD.

Some Fans agree on that. They suggest Harry Potter end with the cursed child and FB is a new part in the magical world
