Not sure how I feel about this. I used to really like him but ever since he had that battery charge against him from his ex girlfriend I don't really like him now. But he's playing the bad guy so I guess it will be super easy to hate him now. Why couldn't they find an actor with less controversy attached to him? __________________

So I'm assuming they hired him and filmed his cameo a long time ago, way before his assault was revealed. This is my only rationale to explain why he was cast. They never would have knowingly cast a wife beater since it now taints the entire franchise reputation. And now they're stuck with him because he's playing an important character and to recast after they've finished the first with him in it would break their contract. If he was convicted, they would have grounds to terminate his contract but since his case was settled, they must carry on with him.
I can only imagine how awkward this will be for the cast. __________________

That explanation makes sense. I was thinking that too. Before all that negative publicity was revealed, he probably was hired before it blew up. Like Mel Gibson. How is he still getting roles??
