Once upon a time, a boy named Harry Potter arrived at the London Train station looking for Platform 9 3/4. Of course, to the naked muggle eye, there was no Platform 9 3/4 and so he had to rely on a bunch of red headed strangers to get him where he needed to go. Then, later, while sitting in his compartment, the youngest boy of the red-headed strangers stumbled in and asked if he could sit there. And thus a glowing friendship began....

1. Because Harry found Ron equally interesting

"Are all your family wizards?" asked Harry, who found Ron just as interesting as Ron found him. SS-99

2. Because Harry can tell who the wrong sort are for himself.

"You'll soon find out some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there."
He held out his hand to shake Harry's, but Harry didn't take it.
"I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," he said coolly. SS-108

3. Because Ron is fast to back Harry up anytime and vice versa.

"Never heard of a Wizard's duel before, I suppose?"
"Of course he has," said Ron, wheeling around. "I'm his second, who's yours?" SS-153

"Don't remember asking you to join us, Malfoy," said Harry coolly. Ron was shaking with fury.
"Get stuffed, Malfoy," said Harry. "C'mon, Ron .."
"Oh yeah, you were staying with them this summer, weren't you Potter?" sneered Malfoy. "So tell me, is his mother really that porky, or is it just the picture?"
"You know your mother, Malfoy," said Harry - both and Hermione had grabbed he back of Ron's robes to stop him from launching himself at Malfoy - "that expression she's got, like she's got dug under her nose? Has she always looked like that, or was it just because you were with her?"
"Don't you dare insult my mother, Potter."
"Keep your fat mouth shut then," said Harry, turning away. GoF-204

4. Because Ron always has good advice for Harry.

"And what if I wave my wand and nothing happens?"
"Throw it away and punch him on the nose," Ron suggested. SS-153

5. Because they *both* care about Hermione.

"Oh, no," said Ron, pale as the Bloody Baron.
"It's the girl's bathroom!" Harry gasped.

6. Because they both hate the same people.

(after Malfoy insults him and Snape takes points from him) " I'll get him, said Ron, grinding his teeth at Malfoy's back, "one of these days, I'll get him -"

11. Because having a fight made them realize how much their friendship meant.

"You miss him!" Hermione said impatiently. "And I know he misses you!"

12. Because they help each other with Divination homework/

"Okay...on Monday, I will be in danger of - er - burns."
"Yeah, you will be," said Ron darkly, "we're seeing the skrewts again on Monday. Okay, Tuesday, I'll...eerm..."
"Lose a treasured possession," said Harry, who was flicking through Unfogging the Future for ideas.
"Good one," said Ron, copying it down. "Because of...erm...Mercury. Why don't you get stabbed in the back by somebody you thought was a friend?"
"Yeah...cool..." said Harry, scribbling it down ...
"And on Wedensday, I think I'l com off worst in a fight."
"Aaah, I was going to have a fight. Okay, I'll lose a bet."
"Yeah, you'll be betting I'll win my fight .."

13. Because they can talk about "Wonky Faints."

"They wouldn't look twice at him if he couldn't do that Wonky-Faint thing-"
"Wronski Feint," said Harry, through gritted teeth. Quite apart from liking to get Quidditch terms correct, it caused him another pang to imagine Ron's expression if he could have heard Hermione talking about Wonky-Faints. GoF-317

14. Because Ron called Professor Mcgonagall a lot of names that greatly annoyed Hermione
"Ask her now," Ron hissed at Harry.
"Oh, but -" Hermione began.
"Go for it, Harry," said Ron stubbornly.

15. Because Ron stood up for Harry even with a broken leg.

Ron, however, spoke to Black.
"If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!" he said fiercely, though the effort of standing upright was draining him of still more color, and he swayed slightly as he spoke.

16.Because they'll have to kill him first before Harry.

"Did you hear me?" Ron said weakly, though he was clinging painfully to Harry to stay upright. "You'll have to kill all three of us!"PoA-339

17. Because Harry didn't go to get a teacher, he went for Ron.

Ron's leg had broken, and a moment later, his foot vanished from sight.
"Harry - we've got to go for help -" Hermione gasped.
"No! That thing's big enough to eat him, we haven't got time -"

18. Because Harry couldn't leave when Remus was transforming, because it meant leaving Ron behind.

But Harry couldn't run. Ron was chained to Pettigrew and Lupin. PoA380

19. Because Ron came in at just the right time to cover for Harry.

Right on cue, Ron came bursting into the office. He was completely out of breath, and stopped just short of Snape's desk, clutching the stitch in his chest and trying to speak.
"I-gave-Harry-that-stuff," he choked. "Bought-it...in Zonko's...ages-ago."

20. Because they can tell what the other is thinking.

It took a few seconds for the absurdity of this statement to sink in. Then Ron voiced what Harry was thinking.
"You're both mental." PoA-349

Harry looked down at Ron, and as their eyes met, they agreed silently: Black and Lupin were both out of their minds. PoA-351

21. Because Ron wants Harry to stay over at his house.

"Harry, you've got to come and stay with us. I'll fix it with Mum and Dad, then I'll call you. I know how to use a fellytone now -"

"It's the Quidditch World Cup this summer! How about it Harry? Come and stay, we'll go and see it!"
This proposal had the effect of cheering Harry up a great deal.

22. Because Ron's the thing he'd miss most/ Because Harry doesn't want to lose his "Weezy"

"Harry Potter has to go into the lake and find his Wheezy-"
"Find my what?"
"-and take his Wheezy back from the merepeople!"
"What's a Wheezy?"
"Your Wheezy, sir, your Wheezy - Wheezy who is giving Dobby his sweater!...The thing Harry Potter will miss most, sir!...Dobby cannot let Harry Potter lose his Wheezy!" GoF-490

23. Because Ron's indignation on his behalf is worth one thousand points.

And now Karkaroff raised his wand. He paused for a moment, and then a number shot out of his wand too - four.
"What?" Ron bellowed furiously. "Four? You lousy, biased scumbag, you gave Krum ten!"
But Harry didn't care, he wouldn't have cared if Karkaroff had given him zero; Ron's indignation on his behalf was worth about a hundred points to him. He didn't tell Ron this, of course, but his heart felt lighter than air as he turned to leave the enclosure. GoF-360

24. Because there's not as much laughter when Hermione is your best friend.

Harry liked Hermione very much, but she just wasn't the same as Ron. There was much less laughter and a lot more hanging around in the library when Hermione was your best friend.GoF-316

And nice title.

OK, Linds thought of great topic discussion for this thread, fav. Ron/Harry moments. I'll start first then.

One of my fav. Ron/Harry moments was in PS/SS film when they were learning how to ride a broom for the first time. Ron's broom knocked him on his nose and Harry laughed, and Ron said, "Shut up, Harry." But he was laughing too. I think it was really cute.

I'm also going to do a film moment as well, but I love how both Ron and Harry had a hard time getting dates for the Yule Ball.

The reunion was great. Poor Harry was getting confused by Ron.

I love how Hermione, Ginny, and Angelina were in the background of that scene looking at them and when Hermione said "Boys," Ginny just rolled her eyes and Angelina just slowly nodded still watching Ron and Harry.

I love their first conversation on the train. They're so cute sharing candies and talking about the most random things.

In GOF, the whole section about them finding a date for the Yule Ball is hilarious. They're so awkward and clueless.

OOTP is full of sweet moments between them, but my favourite is when Ron is watching over Harry when he's having his nightmare.

I love it in CoS when Lockhart tried to get out from going into the Chamber to help Ginny, both of the boys held out their wands at him.

Even at such young age, they've shown they have what it takes to be badass Aurors.

I love it! I still remember the dialogue in the film during this part:

Ron : Hold on!
Harry : I'm trying. Your hands are all sweaty!
