| Elite Fan   | Deathly Hallows Spoiler Policy ~ Please Read Spoiler policy and rules Hello fellow HP fans. Well the big day is approaching so we would like to clarify some of the rules and spoiler policies for the board. Please read and respond. Pre-book spoilers: Please don't discuss them on the board *And yes this included where you saw them previously*. A lot of people thought there would be no pre book spoilers and don't want to be accidentally spoiled. Please if you want to discuss them that is what PMs are for or just don't mention any specifics. Thanks! June 1st, 2007 ~ Deathly Hallows Spoiler Policy is in effect until further notice. Please be respectful of the posters on the board who want to remain unspoiled. Sam and I (as well as our friendly temp mods Pav and madelen) will try to be here as much as possible but we are also counting on you guys to police yourselves. Be aware of what you are posting and PM mods if you see any spoilers. Also please be sure to keep spoilers out of your signature and avatars. This could be a nasty way for someone to find out about what is happening in the book. We have one Deathly Hallows discussion thread. In addition to this, the 'shippers will be permitted to post spoilers in their threads, if – and only if – they post a clearly visible spoiler warning before posting spoilers. [sp*]spoiler text[/sp*] -without the *s This means the general plot will be discussed in the Deathly Hallows discussion thread. Everything 'shipper related can be discussed in the existing 'shipper threads. Even though we ask you to post spoiler warnings before spoilers, I believe it will be inevitable that others who haven’t read the book yet will be spoiled. So they would either have to take the risk of being spoiled or they would have to stay away from their 'shipper threads. In order to determine how long the spoiler policies will have to stay in effect, it would be good to know the release dates of the book in the various countries around the world. So please let us know when Deathly Hallows will be released in your country. Release dates: • July 21, 2007: USA, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Finland, Bulgaria, Vietnam • October 26th, 2007: France • October 27th, 2007: Germany • November 3rd, 2007: Greece • November 21st, 2007: Sweden After the first release date, we will open Chapter by Chapter review threads and then eventually these threads will merge into one as the demand decreases. If you have any questions about this policy please let us know! *Update* July 14th Discussion Threads We will have the following discussion threads open (spoilers will be allowed on these threads) Please also remember these are for discussion and should stay on topic. A Chapter by Chapter review, please make sure you only discuss the context of the chapters that are being discussed. These threads will be started by the mods and will include a few chapters per thread. A Overall Deathly Hallows discussion thread, to discuss all chapters, characters and plot lines. We ask that you please keep the general discussion threads shipper free. All shipper talk should take place on the appreciation thread and be clearly marked as a spoiler. REMINDER Please remember the following rules: 1) Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters. 2) NO bashing of people, characters or 'ships. Ever. Keep the discussion civilized and respectful. 3) Please remember this is FICTION and not worth insulting people over. We know that not everyone will agree and that is fine. 4) Any overly rude or attacking posters will be edited if you continue to post in such a manner steps will be taken to have you banned. 5) Some examples of posts which will be edited include: Any kind of extreme character/actor/poster bashing. “you are so dumb for thinking that” “all blank shippers are dumb how could they think that would happen” 6) Also NO POSTING “I TOLD YOU SO” about any ship. Comments like this are disrespectful and rude. Any comments rubbing a scene/moment in other people’s faces will be edited. 7) Please remember that shipper threads are safe havens for the fans of that couple. Please do not go into threads only to cause trouble. 8) Please do not quote spoiler posts in your posts! It crams up the board and makes for an unfriendly environment. 9) To make the board more friendly to those of us who haven't read the book spoilers must be marked with and spaced appropriately. In addition to that please wrap around the spoiler you are posting (minus the *s). These measures are necessary on shipper threads but not on the chapter threads or the Deathly Hallows Discussion thread. Spoliers are not permitted anywhere else on the board. 10) Thank you for your help with this! Remember have fun and enjoy DH! This is time we have all been waiting for! | Will do~ I don't want to it to be spoiled for me and I bet everyone else feels the same. I'm never the first to find spoilers anyway if I wanted to post them. | Elite Fan | Short answer...not really. The Swedish release is for the language translation version of DH. As is the German, French and Greek etc. If some of the alternative language threads start talking about spoilers they will have to use spoiler tags for THAT particular thread until a certain time after that country's release. Make sense? But all english speaking countries will have their books on July 21st, so we'll keep the spoiler policy in affect until Sam and I (and our temp mods) agree that it's not necessary anymore. At least a month. Maybe 6 weeks. | Elite Fan | Well Ana, it's happened in the past so we're just keeping consistant with that. But hey we will consider altering it. That's why we welcome feedback here. One of the biggest things we're going to be watching is icon spoilers and sig spoilers.
