A nice little nugget of news from Chris Rankin to start off the new thread from twitter:

Quote:
i start filming at the end of the month with what looks to be a week of night shoots...
Hmm, night shoots. I only remember Percy being in the castle itself, not out in the grounds which is where I would have thought the night shoots would be happening (ie when Hagrid returns with Harry, Neville's big Gryffindor sword moment) but maybe there are other scenes in the grounds with Percy. There are of course other scenes like where Harry is with the Death Eaters and Voldemort before he "dies" which will be night shoots, but they won't involve Percy.

I would have thought the scene I mentioned in the grounds would be later in the shoot given they need Bonnie and Emma for some of that, but it could be they are going to shoot it in pieces, similar to how they did several night shoots quite some time apart for the burning of the Burrow for HBP.

Thanks for the new thread Kristi.

And thanks to Chris for the filming update. But I've come to understand that 'night shoots' do not necessarily mean outdoor shooting. Some are but some are not.

Oh and they ARE back to filming this weekend. Tom twittered today that he had to cancel his RingCon appearance because he has some DH filming to do.

Yeah, I'm wondering what they're filming. I didn't expect them to be back until another two weeks or so.

That's true about night shoots, although they tend to mock up "day for night" on the set quite often as it is less expensive than a night shoot, they even do that on location sometimes too, although not so much on HP. It would be interesting if they were doing it for some Hogwarts castle scenes though.

As for Tom's filming comment, are we sure it's for DH? He has been filming some other films in recent months and might have been needed to come back for pickups on one of those films. He didn't actually mention DH and Chris commented that the studio was very quiet as they were "between films".

Well Red at SS.com is the one who reported that the reason he can't go to the con is because of his "DH filming commitments". I assume her reporting is accurate.

Also Matt twittered that he's going to RingCon on Sunday. He was suppose to go both today aswell but he ALSO said he's had to cancel today because he's busy so he also could be at the studio today too. It's a possibility.

In Tom's twitter, he didn't mention DH, just that he was filming on those days for Ringcon and couldn't go. So I don't know. I'm curious what's going on.

Fair enough. It just seemed early given they were supposed to be on break for a month and given Chris' comments.

Well it might be something Tom had to be called back for unexpectedly. He's getting his hair dyed again today so it's definitely DH related.

New Helen McCroy article reveals some DH information.

Quote:
Exciting news today in the form of a new interview with actress Helen McCrory. Speaking to UK Rotten Tomatoes, the actress discusses her role as Narcissa Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, confirming the cast will be doing a read-through today of the script for Part Two, the bulk of which is due to begin filming this month. She also says fans will be in for a treat with these final installments in the Harry Potter series, noting "her work on Deathly Hallows was going well and promised an epic finale for Potter fans. "It's got a full stop," she told us. "I think up to now, every director who has done a Harry Potter has had to do a dot-dot-dot. They know it's a sequel, they know there's another film coming out. But with this one, we can actually make everything have an epic ending. It's going to be final. And it's going to be huge. There doesn't have to be any more pauses or dot-dot-dots. So they're letting out all the stops with this one."

Helen McCrory also reflects on the ending of the story for the cast and crew, as well as for the characters in the series, notably Harry Potter.

"We finish in April and it does feel different on set actually," she explained. "Some people have been doing it for 10, 11 years. It's part of their lives. So although I've just joined them at the end, a lot of people have a huge emotional commitment to it. There are children that have grown up with the people on the set, like the directors and the costume designers backstage. It's a very big occasion for those people."

Despite the magical challenges faced by Harry and co. as Voldemort continues to gain power, McCrory thinks that what makes director David Yates' time on the series so special is his attention to the more human aspects of the franchise. "[Half-Blood Prince] was definitely filled with teenage angst, and you remember how violent teenage angst is. There's nothing romantic about it. You're thinking, Oh my God, what am I going to do for the rest of my life? You're starting to make decisions about the rest of your life. I think [David Yates] really summed that up in a very real way, and a very serious way.

"I think with these next two films, he's looking at this character becoming a man. And that again, is quite an epic story. That's Ulysses. Rites of passage. It's exactly what Noel Clarke did, in a way, with Kidulthood. We still watch those stories, whether they're set in Hogwarts or New Cross."

Here's the link to the original interview with Rotten Tomatoes, courtesy of SS:

http://http://au.rottentomatoes.com/...harry_potter_7

A bit more about the read through:

Quote:
McCrory told us she was due for a table read of the script for the second part of the film today. "You don't know what to expect until you get there," she said. "Something written down on paper could be completely different on the screen. On Monday we're just going to sit down with various people around a table."
I love that they are doing a read through of the DH2 script, as if they were starting the filming of DH2 now, even though they have shot some of it already due to Emma's schedule. I think it makes for a feeling of a new film, rather than just like they are on one continuous shoot of two halves as it were.
