I'm so tempted to order the book from amazon, but I told myself since it was the last book I would wait in line at midnight.

It's the last book and you know that the bookstores are going to go all out for the last opening night of the book. This book series really got people back into reading, espically kids.

I do wonder what her death toll will be in this book considering it's the last one and the end of the war.

It's going to be significant for sure. I would love to see ALL the death eaters eliminated.

cheerios, can't you buy it from the bookstore that you're planning on going to ahead of time? Most big book stores have pre-order discounts if you go to their store kiosk.

I'm going to a midnight release party too.

Thanks Pav, for starting a new thread.

I think I'm gonna go pre-order the book at my bookstore, just in case. How annoying would it be to go buy it and then they would be out of them!?

Thanks for the new thread Pav!

No idea if I'm going to a midnight opening..I think I will no matter what but if I want to buy a book is another story..I might preorder it..I think the books that aren't preordered will sell out QUICK.

Well, I was definitley planning on going to the midnight opening, seeing as how it's the last book and I've never been to one. I usually have always gotten them in the daytime right away. But for those that have been to a midnight release before, is it a good idea for me to preorder the copy before I go to make sure I get one in case the line is like a million people long???

Rule of thumb: If you're worried, Pre-order. The midnight releases are great. The atmosphere is fantastic. But if you're worried about not getting your book....It'll ruin it for you.

However, I have never actually seen someone who hadn't pre-ordered get turned away without a book. The bookstores know that HP is a big deal, so they're usually always prepared.

I would preoder and then go...when I went everyone preordered and the lines were immense..atleast you'll get out faster (a bit) if your name is already in the system.

Yeah, that's true. The pre-order line is ALOT faster. I was near in the middle of the line-up for HBP and I thought I'd be there forever but fortunetly it took less than 10 minutes to get my book and get out of there. Basically, we were instructed to bring a print out of our receipt and a piece of photo ID, they check their printout order-list and stroke your name off. Then you get a wrist band and are told where the line up is. When you get to the counter, you give them your name, they confirm it on their computer and give you your book. Easy peasy.

Its fun to go with a group of friends though so one person can hold your cue spot while the rest of you mingle at the party. As midnight got closer we all just sat on the floor in line and talked. There was someone going around giving out free drinks and cookies too! They showed one of the films (POA) and they had face painting and a costume contest for the kiddies.

That sounds like fun Amy. Unfortunately, I don't think they have any midnight release parties in my city.

It must be a great experience. Too bad it will be released sometime next year in my country. There certainly won't be any release parties here.
