^Well said! I totally agree. She's probably right- nothing will be as big as Harry Potter, but that's absolutley okay with me. I don't expect anything to ever pass Harry Potter on my list of favorite books. But that won't stop me from reading every book she writes and most likely enjoying it, cause I love her writing style.

Any news yet on when the OotP dvd will be released?

^^^^Detective Novel sounds fun... I know it's just a rumor but...

I cannot wait to get my hands on the OtoP DVD. I think I'll have an HP movie marathon.

That detective novel rumour is all over the news today. And just when the source of the rumour is saying now it was just a joke 'that got out of hand.' Grrr.

Well that was a dumb joke.

It's just plain mean when people start rumors, getting people all excited for no reason at all.

Warner Home Video has officially announced that the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD will be released as a Two-Disc Special Edition, a Widescreen version, a Full Screen version, a Blu-ray Disc ($34.98) and a HD DVD ($39.98) on December 11, as previously reported. They will also release a 'Years 1-5' limited edition box set.
The DVD will include:

• 10 minutes of never before seen footage
• An A&E documentary
• A featurette called Trailing Tonks, in which you spend a day with actress Nat Tena and receive a very personal and often wacky tour of the Order of the Phoenix stages
• A Harry Potter: The Magic of Editing feature, in which director David Yates and editor Mark Day show us what a difference a good edit makes and then allow you to edit a scene
• The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter in which look for clues in the past Harry Potter films for what the future films may hold
• An In Movie Experience, in which you join the cast from Dumbledore's Army as they come together to share memorable moments
• As well as more making of featurettes and Fun and Games.
Looks like fun. Still no gag or blooper reel or cast commentaries which is really disappointing.

Warner Bros. announced today that the Harry Potter film series has become the most successful movie franchise in history, based on worldwide box office returns.

According to the official press release:

Quote:
With the success of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Warner Bros. Pictures' Harry Potter films have now become, worldwide, the top-grossing motion picture franchise in history. The announcement was made today by Barry Meyer, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer and Alan Horn, President & Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros.

The combined worldwide box office gross for the five Harry Potter films to date is in excess of $4.47 billion, surpassing the box office totals of all 22 James Bond films and the six Star Wars movies.

This impressive record comes even as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is still going strong in theatres around the globe, and with two more highly anticipated Harry Potter films -- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- still in the offing.

In addition to holding the franchise box office record, all five of the Harry Potter films have the distinction of being among the 20 top-grossing box office hits of all time.

In making the announcement, Alan Horn said, "It would be an understatement to say we are proud of the success of the Harry Potter films. We also want to congratulate all of the extraordinary actors, filmmakers and artists who have shared this remarkable cinematic journey with us."

Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution, said, "It is a thrill to see the Harry Potter franchise reach this unparalleled mark, and, with two movies yet to come, it is amazing to think what heights the franchise could reach by the end of the decade."

Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Bros. Pictures President of International Distribution, added, "This worldwide box office record once again proves that the appeal of the Harry Potter movies knows no border, no age limit, and no language barrier. Each of the five films has captured the hearts and sparked the imagination of audiences everywhere."

The next Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will open on November 21, 2008. The seventh and final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is planned for a 2010 release.

Excellent news, but of course, not at all surprising.

I wish that the HP movies had cast commentary on them or even director commentary. Gag reels would be great too Maybe there will be a big box set after all 7 are released with added info like that.

Yeah, cast commentary and gag reels would be great.

The Harry Potter cast are said to be appearing on the National Movie Awards tonight (in the UK).
