Ohh, I love Sirius and Luna's posters. Evanna Grew on me, at first i thought she was a Malfoy-looking person, but seeing promo pics and the trailer, I think she'll be pretty good.

Trio and Teen Vogue

Quote:
With the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix a little under two months away, the stars, Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson grace the June issue of Teen Vogue. Each is interviewed and while not much new information is garnered from the interview, there are new pictures of the trio.

Dan says of the film:

With this one, it's like everything has come together. It's been my favorite one to do. The character is so exciting in this film. He's so complex. When you're eleven, you're not that complicated. You know what you like and what you don't like, and you know what you want to do and what you don't. But as you get older, there's so much more. You're constantly subjected to this whole cacophony of conflicting thoughts. And I've been able to use that, I hope, to capture some of the detail and complexity of Harry.

Emma on distancing herself from Hermione:

I've read scripts, but nothing's particularly grabbed me, and I don't want to do something just for the sake of doing it. It would have to be a film I feel really passionate about, because I've got so much else going on in my life.

Rupert, a man of little words, mentions not having vacationing plans and the fact that Quidditch was cut from the film:

I was looking forward to Quidditch, though any stunt stuff is good to do.

There's no Quidditch in OotP film!!! That sucks! thats always been the best part of the films (in my opinion any way), actually being able to watch a Quidditch match. At least in the last one they had him flying his broom stick in the first round. Im already dissapointed with the film...

i HATE weds release dates. It's going to make the friday thru sunday total seem lower. No matter how huge Weds openings are, it seems like shows and articles still focus on the fri thru sunday totals

ETA:
Harry Potter Theme Park!
Universal Studios and Warner Brothers made a joint announcement this evening from Leavesden Studios on the set of Dumbledore's Office to reveal that a Harry Potter theme park is currently in development. The image to the left is the first piece of concept art for the park: Hogsmeade Village.

Here's what we learned from Potter set designer Stuart Craig and a representative from Universal Studios (both of whom hosted the big reveal):

- "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort"
- Announcement was made live via internet at 12:01 AM EST today to select media, including MuggleNet.
- Areas of park to include Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, and the Forbidden Forest.
- 20 engineers working on project.
- Universal came to WB looking for authenticity.
- Potter park to be built in "Islands of Adventure" area of Universal.
- Stuart wants to "take his grandchildren" to the park.
- Opening early 2010.
- Universal's Potter website to be available at this link soon.
- JK Rowling has been involved "since the very beginning" of the project. Also "supportive and encouraging."
- Stuart thinks that the park will be better off in the United States.
- Have been in design "for at least a year and a half."
- "Important that the theme park represents the entire saga from Book 1 to Book 7"

In a rather cute way to end the announcement, the Universal representative asks Stuart Craig, "Now where's Dumbledore?" Stuart paused for a moment, looked around the office, and replied, "He was just here."

The fansites will be receiving a special piece of concept art not seen anywhere else, so stay tuned for that! We'll be discussing these developments on this week's episode of MuggleCast (due out over the weekend). This post will be updated frequently as we learn more!

I was just about to update with this news!

How cool is this!

HPANA has a very detailed Q&A with Scott Trowbridge, vice president of creative for Universal Studios Theme Parks and Stuart Craig. Go here to read it.

I was waiting for something like this to happen...the McDonaldization of Harry Potter...

I love these books to death, but really...if they were going to do this, why not in England? Just a little bit more authentic. (I'm American, you know, so this isn't some anti-American rant...just...do you get what I'm trying to say? I'm protective of the integrity of the things I love.)

If by "the McDonaldization of Harry Potter" you mean it going insanely mainstream, I think that started when they made the first movie and crap like Hermione barbie dolls started being made I actually like the idea of a theme park though, and I'm not gonna complain about the location because I go to Florida all the time

Well considering this franchise doesn't lower itself to fast food restaurants or vechicle tie-ins like the Spiderman, Shrek and countless others have done where they contributes to problems with obsesity and mass-consumerism in our society, I'd say this is still new venture isn't quite the same.

From the beginning Jo wanted her creation to stay clear of those marketing ploys and so far they've done a good job of it. We have toys and games and clothing (costume) lines but nothing like what their competition has done. The books are really all we need for a product selling a sucessful franchise.

As far as the theme park goes, it's the 'experience of the Potterverse' that they're really cashing in on. I'm going for the rides and to get the feeling of what it would be like to step into that magical world. The films actual production designer is taking all the set treatments and applying it to the park's environment. That in itself is so cool. Most of us will never get the chance to visit the set but this will be the next best thing.

If Theme Parks were as big in the UK or Europe as they are over here in NA I'm sure they would have done it there but it just didn't work out that way.
