| Barry Trotter - HP parody I was wondering if anyone had read the two Barry Trotter books by Michael Gerber. The titles are Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody and Barry Trotter and the Unnecessary Sequel I got the books at home but didn't get to read them yet. But just from looking at them (they used the same fonts and everything for the covers) I know I'm going to love them. lol But I have to warn those of you who take Harry Potter very seriously and can't laugh about a good parody. You're not gonna like those books. So anyway... has anyone read the books? *Cara* __________________ HP reader: Why is the scar on Harry's forehead lightning shaped? J.K. | i've read the 1st one, and 1/2 of the second book, but got a bit bored and started reading another book. it's pretty good though (just not a good as this other book i was reading). Its even better when you start reading harry potter again after you've read barry trotter, it's really disorientating. They're really funny but i didnt think they were that easy to read... __________________ Give a man a fire; he'll be warm for a day.....set a man on fire; he'll be warm for his lifetime | |||

| I just got both books at the really crappy bookstore in our local "mall," so I'm going to read them soon. ![]() You'd think that if she'd sued, they wouldn't be selling the books anymore... ![]() | |||

| I read the first one and it was pretty stupid, but fun. Not the most mature of parody but most HP fans with a sense of humour should get a giggle out of it (as long as they haven't read a million fanfics like it before). __________________ ~*Tieka*~ Proud Arrow #190 and Auror #208 | |||

| I bought the second one first. And I thought it was good. Funny, but yes, it's a bit boring and not very mature. But wehn I was finally reading the first one, I got really bored that I just stopped in the 60 something page. Not as funny as the second one. __________________ my myth, my legend, my shinhwa.. | |||

| Hm... so maybe I shouldn't have bought both of them? ![]() __________________ HP reader: Why is the scar on Harry's forehead lightning shaped? J.K. Rowling: To be honest, because it’s a cool shape. ![]() <--- bottomless pit of non-information *lol* I think the series that she sued was the Tanya Grotter books, actually. And the writer who sued JKR was the one who wrote those "Muggles" book/s. But JKR won. And speaking of Barry Trotter, did you guys know that Mike Gerber, the writer of those books actually used to post HERE? ![]() Yeah, he used to post at the Aurors thread (well, duh, Barry and 'Ermine "gets it on" every other page in his books ) And he actually acknowledged one of the Aurors in the "Sequel" __________________ Somewhere, a boy weeps. | lol Gardenia that's exactly what I thought. If I don't like them I'll just put them on eBay. Someone's gonna be stupid enough to buy them. Or would any of you like to buy them when I'm done? ![]() I WAS JUST KIDDING!!!__________________ HP reader: Why is the scar on Harry's forehead lightning shaped? J.K. | Yeah, I've read the first one. It was alright, I borrowed it from a friend. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it though. __________________ Ron/Hermione - Chloe/Lex - Veronica/Weevil - Mac/Beaver - Angel/Cordy | |||

| i have both the Barry Trotter books. and i read them both too. They're funny but i cant read it long because then i annoys me. but i like the humor non the less. its too bad that michael gerber is totally kicking my favorite characters in the dirt like, Ron, Sirius and Draco.__________________ Narcissa: My lost sibling is a big stinking blood traitor! | I read the first one, but I didn't know there was a second... If you say it's funnier, I might try to get it out of the library or something. I thought the first was pretty funny, well, some parts. Others were just odd. But I loved the rebellious mice he mentioned now and then. Anyone know what I mean?__________________ Will Turner: This is either madness... or brilliance. | Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody is a book that I've read. I've got it upstairs and I think I'll read it when I am done reading my current fic. I thought the book was great. It's a really nice poke at the HP-verse and it's funny to parallel the two. I'll have to check out that sequel though if it's nearly as giggle inspiring as the first... ~Chrissy~ __________________ Life is short. Enjoy it. | |||
