A long, long time ago there lived a boy named Harry Potter. He had this devastatingly tragic life, all made better by a loyal and trusting rapport he had with his best friend Hermione Granger. Little did they know, the loving friendship they shared would turn into something more because of course, there are some things you can't share without liking each other, and knocking out a 12-foot mountain troll is one of them.

Yay, new thread! I love the title. Haha, it's so true.

Anyway, going back to the discussion on the other thread, I do have a sense of humor. Really, I do. But there's just some point when you have to say enough is enough. JKR needs to respect all of her fans, no matter what pairing they prefer. She should just be happy that we care so much about her characters. And that we're supporting her by buying the darn books.

I don't think she realizes the effect her words have on fandom. I remember her saying that she didn't want to alienate half of her readers with the shipping comments, but she ends up doing exactly that, with comments like this latest one

It's like I've said lots of times, wanting your work to have only one interpretation is wanting your work to be weak and shallow. She should be flattered that what she wrote got so many different interpretations, that shows her writing is good

And the fact that we stand by our ship no matter what shows we care about the characters she created, and she should appreciate that.

Oh well. I'm over it

Of course she cares about her fansmissy. And she's a very respectful and appreciative person. JKR is not a villan. If it weren't for her we'd be reading something else and caring about other ships.

Are there any Aurors out there that actually like Jo or is that a stupid question?

I'm not trying to antagonize anyone but I'm just really curious and I'd love to read a supportive comment here every once in a while.

I'm not very fond of JK as a person too, and I'm a Sidekick. I don't know, I just think she doesn't know how to deal with the fanbase that enjoys her work but disagrees with some of her decisions. She never comes out, at least to me, as an understanding author about the diversity of her fan's opinions. Oh well.

On a side note: WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FIRST BANNER? O_O" It was so gorgeous, someone bring it back, please!

I don't know. My liking to Jo is shaky at the moment. I do appreciate her because she created the books, but I don't like the way she acts towards the aurors. And I'll throw the book at her if she makes Percy evil.

It seems to me that she takes every chance to make a snide comment about H/Hr and the shippers. In that interview there was absolutely no need to bring H/Hr up but she did it anyway. Why? Because it gave her yet another chance to mock us. Getting constantly kicked in the teeth really isn't nice.

And for the record i will not be buying the seventh book. Why should i help line the pockets of a woman who is utterly tactless and has zero respect for her fans opinions and feelings? Nuh uh, not doing it.

I like her. I think she's a great writer and she's a very sweet person. It's hard to find authors who get so involved with her fans and fandom in general. I just wish she would pick her words more carefully, because she's hurting her fans without even realizing it.

Oh I'm buying the book. Ships aside, I love the story. I need to know what happens to Snape, to Bellatrix, to the trio...I hate the way the romances were written, so I'll just try not to focus on that.

I'm not buying the seventh book either, not only because of JK's recent comments and such, but also due to the fact that I seriously doubt I'll like it. I didn't like the fifth nor the sixth book, and my hopes aren't that high for the seventh. I'll probably check it out of the library, but I just don't have the money to buy another book that I'm disappointed in--especially one that is 25 dollars!

As for me liking JK, I don't think she's the spawn of evil or anything. I think she's done a great job in creating wonderful characters that I have become attached to, and an even greater job in creating the HP world. But come on. Respect should be given where respect is due. And I can't ignore such a blatant lack of r-e-s-p-e-c-t from her.

When it comes to HP, at least for now, I can safely say that the 'official' canon bores the hell out of me

Plus, even though H/Hr is not 'canon' you guys count with tons of moments, maybe more than any other ship. And no matter who Harry or Hermione ends up with, they'll always have each other.

And like you always say, the non-romantic relationships were the most well written relationships in HBP. H/Hr, H/L...so we might not get kisses between them, but we'll get the amazing and untouchable friendship they'll always share, which is enough for me at this point. So we can't have them be boyfriend and girlfriend, so what

? Their relationship is strong enough as it is.

And to be honest, I'm quite happy that she doesn't seem willing to write H/L (my favorite pairing) as a canon romance. I've read her romance and I did not like it. I'm not being bitchy, but I'll gladly take the non-romance & read the romance from people who can actually write it. JK might have reated the puppets, but there are PLENTY of fanfiction authors out there who can play with them in a much better way, IMO.

Plus, I didn't start reading HP because of the romance, at all. I've started because of the amazing and involving plot, which so far, I think JK kept brilliantly. In fact, when it comes to the general plot, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. JK's still a master on that subject
