A long, long time ago there lived a boy named Harry Potter. He had this devastatingly tragic life, all made better by a loyal and trusting rapport he had with his best friend Hermione Granger. Little did they know, the loving friendship they shared would turn into something more because of course, there are some things you can't share without liking each other, and knocking out a 12-foot mountain troll is one of them.

I just read a great essay at Portkey (for a change

) and there was a nice bit on JKR's "platonic" quote, y'know...the R/Hr bible.

Anyway:

platonic

Transcending physical desire and tending toward the purely spiritual or ideal: platonic love.

People say that it means "no physical desire whatsoever", well I'd say check the dictionary, because this is what "transcending" means:

1. To pass beyond the limits of;
2. To be greater than, as in intensity or power; surpass;

If anything, JKR confirmed that Harry and Hermione's relationship goes very, very deep and is about so much more than just the physical, not that it isn't there. Just thought I'd share that since I thought that essay was pretty interesting. Plus, I'm sick and tired of listening to people shoving "PLATONIC PLATONIC PLATONIC" down our throats as if it was the ultimate prrof that H/Hr won't ever happen when in fact it works in favor of our ship.

I'm glad you guys all like the title. I remember people liked Jennifer's comment from the last thread and I think it makes a great title.

Ok.. question what would be your ideal place for H/H to have their first kiss? I think it would be great right next to the lake. Like they go out there for a walk and to talk about something that is bothering Harry. They hug and when they pull apart they just look into each others eyes and then they kiss. I think that would be perfect

To me, snow is very Aurorish. In the movie (when she reaches out to him) and in the book when he opens the door for her (and no one else) and she has snow on her hair...

I just ordered the book (I know so late) yay! And I got 50% off. I love Barnes and Noble.

Their first kiss has to be in the snow. Or during christmas when no one is around because they all went home but Hermione stayed just for Harry to keep him company.
