Okay, turning on the Buzz Saw!!!
As in, what's the buzz? Let's talk about what's happening in Mr. B's eventful existence!
After a lovely summer split between time with the family in New York and time doing meetings and a movie in California and a pilot in Toronto (don't even go there, you evil-minded people!), Bill is heading off TODAY with his lovely wife Marni to spend a week in England, where he'll be making a convention appearance. Any of you folks on the other side of the pond have details on this? (I had it somewhere, but I'm moving in less than three weeks, and I believe it's already packed. My bad!) Other than that, Bill's getting ready to go house/apartment/living quarters hunting in Toronto as he gets ready to film his upcoming NEW SERIES, Wonderfalls. Filming begins on the traditional day that ALL of Bill's filming seems to begins, "the Day Before Marni's Birthday". Wonderfalls is scheduled to launch in January, 2004. Let's wish it the same success as some of those other January launches, like Buffy and Deep Space Nine. And that's the Buzz ... Ms. Carolyn __________________

This is what I remember about the convention in the UK this weekend:
It is taking place in Heathrow, on May 23rd-25th 2003. It will also be the worlds first Con dedicated to Smallville and Roswell, with guests Allison Mack, William Sadler, Nick Wechsler, David Nutter and Michael Sheard. (Majandra was supposed to be there, too, but had to cancel out. ) I'm sure a great time will be had by all. Wish I could be there! Please feel free to come by and post your stories of the Con here, all you lucky UKer's. [ 05-20-2003: Message edited Berengaria ] |

Maybe if I beg and beg and beg (some more) for money, then I'll be able to pay my way to the UK. I know that I want to go. Bill seems so friendly on here, Nick gave me an autograph, and I sit through Smallville just to watch Chloe(Allison Mack).
It would be so perfect if I could go. I'll be off in the corner weeping if you need me. __________________

I'm in Florida and I never thought I would get a chance to meet "Sheriff Valenti",my favorite Roswell star. But,one day, there I was sitting in a theater in NYC...enjoying seeing Bill do a wonderful job as "Mark Twain" in a very fine play called "A Few Stout Indidviuals".He greeted all his fans after the show, signed autographs, and chatted. He was just as friendly and nice as you have heard. And,so,I say to you "Never say Never"...I hope your chance will come one of these days. Bill does quite a bit of traveling around so you never know.

You're a lucky, lucky mod.
I'm not saying never. I'm just frowning and eating a lot of sweets 'til I feel better... or considerably heavier. __________________

Ber riffles through her desk drawer....here,have a Godiva chocolate...my sure cure for almost anything that ails me!
Reports from people attending the Convention are starting to come in...so far someone has had their picture taken with Bill and seen him having lunch...Nick has been spotted trying to lock his friend in the men's room! (Nice to know some people never change). Another newsflash: There was an auction for charity. Nick Wechsler offered to let someone pat his butt for charity....and Bill S. said they could have his butt too! I'm waiting to see who won the bidding and how much it benefitted the charity..... Okay, what I really want to know was HOW MUCH FUN WAS IT?!!!! [ 05-26-2003: Message edited Berengaria ] |

Here are some Bill memories from the Q&A sessions from last weekend at Heathrow. I cannot really do justice as Bill is so talented at telling the story.... which is why he is in the Entertainment Industry and I'm not
Of the guests, Bill Sadler was the funniest at telling tales. He described a time he was doing an advert in Ireland - his accent was incredible - sort of skipping up the hill to a jingle. Which he kept singing - that was in itself. But he said it kept raining when they were on location, and after 3 weeks of all expenses paid, no work, all Guinness, the company insisted on some takes. So they put up a tarpaulin brought in the sheep and ducks etc and Bill said he came skipping around the cottage singing the jingle. At which point all the sheep legged it...... So the director had to tie the animals down.....so he came skipping out again singing the jingle.... and all the animals keeled over.... I was throughout this story. And embarrassing stories.... in his younger days he did theatre where they had no understudy so there was no question of their not appearing. He was really sick but still had to go on stage. He was having "control" issues and got a cue to go on stage just as his body gave out So he minced on stage not moving too much ...but the part called for him he to sit down, whereupon he was adlibbing standing behind the chair etc until he could get off stage and sort out the problems. He was so funny .... it was amazing What an entertainer. He also performed an olde Irish folk song.....I think called Irish Panties. The audience were just howling with laughter throughout. Bill was very humble and gracious about his acting career. He said he always wanted to do comedy and that his new project offers this opportunity. He attributed a lot of his success to one casting director calling him back from a window at the Studio. For the part of Death which he played with a czechoslovakian accent, the casting director liked it so much they trawled eastern Europe looking for someone to play the part!! Eventually they realised he could do it. Throughout the weekend he gave a lot of encouragement to the other guests. He shared with me that he thought getting David Nutter to attend the conference had been quite a coup for the organisers.... it was very apparent he had the greatest respect for David. I am from a group [should that be grope ] of Fehrians who attended. Spook and Plu had made us cardboard backed photos on sticks of Brendan Fehr to unite us and show our main interest. David Nutter saw them and called Bill to our table. David obviously thought it was a huge joke. So he gave us the cue to lift the Brendan-on-Sticks all together when Bill arrived. When Bill saw our Brendan-on-Sticks at first he was speechless, then he laughed and said "That is just....so... sad..... " Bill also took a major part in the auction - it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I had spent all my dosh on a video and Nick who came up first in the auction, but that was the advantage of one other lucky woman He was kind enough to autograph a picture for a friend of mine who couldn't make it to the event because of illness - he wrote a lovely piece to her. I was so impressed with Bill. He said he loved the stage but it was not enough money to live on!! And he loved to do comedy but always seemed to get cast as the bad guy. In fact he shared that he had turned down 2 really nasty roles in films which he just did not want to do. Roswell has had the most amazing group of people involved with it. This conference confirmed this the more and I really wish Bill all the best for his future projects. And a big THANK YOU to him for giving so freely of his time. he gave far more than we could have expected. Hope everyone here enjoys my recollections [ 05-31-2003: Message edited MissT ] __________________

Miss T,that was incredible! So well told...ytou put us in the moment. Thanks for sharing. I'm especially happy to hear that the new tv role for Bill will include a chance for his comedic side to be seen. Now,don't be surprised if we nick your idea and at the next Fehrian get together there are a bunch of fans with Bill-on-a-stick!!!

Bill dropped in on a small Poughkeepsie coffee house recently. It was "Open Mike" night,so,of course,he took the stage. Sang,I heard from someone who was there, several hilarious songs....she said she had heard one of them on Roswell, so I'm guessing "If I Had a Million Dollars. I would have loved to have been a fly on that wall.
Nice to see our guy getting out and having fun,t'ain't it?!! |

The funny thing is that when Bill came online to tell us about it,he found Postman already discussing it! He was amazed and asked how someone from Finland knew so quickly what he had been doing that weekend.
It seems Postman had been to another board where someone who had just accidentally been at the coffee house and had seen Bill's performance described it and how nice it was to meet Bill in person. I think Bill was amazed at what a small world the internet has made it! |
