I'm not so much a prude. It's just, when I read ficcage, I picture the story in my head, adds to the whole enjoyment of it. And I'm not about to be picturing porn with the Buffy actors in it, if that makes sense. Just not someplace I want to go.

I never even considered the age difference between the two girls. I think the writers pretty much blew that issue out of the water when they hooked up Buffy with vamps over a hundred years older than she and Xander dated Anya who had, what,a century? on him. Dawn's been through alot more than your every-day 17 year old anyway. If we're to totally discount the fact that she existed in energy form for what appeared to be an extremely long time and stick to her age as the monks created her,we have to take into account the maturity and perspective she would gain being the slayer's sister. She's been through alot. Alot more than other kids her "age".

Oh yeah. The original script in 'Enemies' had the kiss on the lips, not the forehead. And they made them change it. WB was very sensitive about that kind of thing. They had a huge fit with the W/T kiss back in 'The Body' according to Joss.

As for Faith/Dawn, I don't mind shipping them at the age Dawn is. I'm just not all that comfy with reading graphic sex scenes concerning them. I'm not a big fan of graphic sex scenes with anyone though, so that's another reason why </STRONG>
That's cool. I enjoy the build-up too. My favorite stories tend to be the ones where the characters first "get together". I enjoy seeing the different scenarios the writers come up with to ship them.

The more graphic scenes have thier moments in the sense that sometimes, the author surprises you with unexpected happenings (a "gentle,tender-loving" Faith or a "Mistress of pain" Buffy) that help display sides of the character that they couldn't show otherwise.
I also enjoy finding out that I'm not the ONLY ONE with a thing for the cleft in Faith's bottom lip or the dimples in Willow's smile. I've read many stories where both of these features were highlighted and commented on (usually by Buffy, now that I think of it) and I thought it was cool because of the whole "Hey,I'm right there with you" angle of it.
That being said, there's nothing wrong with leaving a little for the imagination. More fun that way, isn't it?

Yeah I get your point. Spontaneity and surprises like that make fics that much more enjoyable. I think I have alot more trouble writing the actual scenes instead of reading them, just because I'm not sure what is considered over the top, and what keeps it sensual and sexy instead of crude and vulgar, ya know? I'm not a writer,Casandra, so I can't give you any specific advice but maybe a general "trouble-shooter" list might help you out in distinguishing what you yourself are comfortable in writing. I mean, the line between "crude" and "sexy" is entirely subjective and based on our own personal feelings. Suffice it to say, you'll NEVER be able to please everyone. You can, however, find YOUR area of comfort and stay within its confines so as to produce your best work.
My suggestion would be to cull together several stories that contain graphic scenes that you feel were tastefully done AND THEN compare/contrast them with stories you felt "went over the line". You can do the whole " Pros and Cons" type list with nasty elements on one side and appropriate ones on the other. This might help you get a general feel for what YOU are comfortable with and prevent you from writing scenes that seem "forced".
Otherwise, I myself would probably go with the N.F.W.D. line. "If it's Not Fun, Why Do it?"

That's a really good suggestion.

See I got roped into writing a PWP sequel to a Buffy/Willow fic I wrote last year, and I blushed my way through the entire thing. I re-read it earlier and I'm happy with the way it turned out, but I'm not sure I could make a habit of writing something like that for every one of my pieces that I venture into.

I guess also, I have to figure out if it advances the story or is just gratuitous and not really needed as well. Since I'm not the most comfy writing graphic scenes.

Although, with a character like Faith she was more sexual than loving for the most part. So a sex scene with her as a participant, if you wanted to keep the characterizations accurate, would have to be a bit more extreme than say a character like Tara.

Of course you can always deviate like you said, showing hidden sides of the character we never got to see onscreen

I like Faith/Wesley
Faith/Xander

I can't read any of the fic, if it's not on the show, I can't consider it real.

I was really getting into the Faith/Wes groove this past time when Eliza did the three ep spot. They were really smoking with the chemistry

Wesley might wince just a little if Faith ever suggests some light bondage.

Well they have done that already back in Five By Five. So who knows, he might be up for a more active role in it this time around.

I'd know what to say if Faith suggested some bondage!

Somehow that smilie seems a bit out of place in that sentence

But hey, I wouldn't argue with her either, I'd certainly be up for it
