Here are a couple of fresh news items:

Eliza Dushku Promoting Albanian Tourism

At the beginning of August, Eliza Dushku, an American actress of Albanian and Danish descent, has visited her father’s country of origin, to film a documentary that will promote the tourism and culture of Albania. She applied for Albanian citizenship, and was given the “Honorary ambassador of Tirana to the World” title from the mayor of Tirana. Very soon, her citizenship request was honored, and the American star received her Albanian passport, from the hands of the Albanian prime minister Sali Berisha, in a special ceremony organized in her honor.
Eliza Dushku.

Eliza Dushku’s love for Albania is no secret for her Albanian fans, although not many of her international fans know that the double-headed eagle tattooed on her back is the Coat of Arms of the country. Receiving the citizenship in a country she loves so much is probably a dream come true, and a moment that made her feel proud.

She tweeted for days from her trip to Albania, sharing her experiences with her fans, and making it clear from the start that:

#Albania we are in the country as ARTISTS & Do not represent politics. I LOVE & RESPECT #Albania’s diversity, culture & people.

When she received her citizenship, Eliza proudly displayed her picture with the official title online, and while not many mainstream publications deemed the news important enough to make waves, a few thousands know now more about Albania thanks to a few tweets by Eliza Dushku.

If the actress is serious about promoting Albania and its culture, things should not stop here. A documentary is simply not enough, no matter how good. What Albania needs is an ongoing, dedicated effort – so Eliza should continue sharing her experiences and return to the country as often as she has the chance.

Eliza Dushku Slams Daily Mail

In an open letter to The Daily Moan, the Buffy actress lets rip about celebrity autographs

“Get me the editor of the Daily Mail!”

Eliza Dushku
doesn’t seem to realise that the Daily Mail’s motto is Nunquam Permissum Res Invado Via Bonus Moere (“Never let the facts get in the way of a good moan”). She was incensed by a Mail article criticising former Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere for charging $30 a signature at the Fan Expo Canada in Toronto (at which Dushku was also signing) and claiming this meant she must have fallen on hard times.

The article read, “Fan conventions such as these have more of a reputation of attracting actors in the twilight of their careers.”

Dushku’s response is this open letter to the editor of the Mail:

“Editor-in-Chief, the Daily Mail

“Dear Sir,

“I write to you because the piece of your paper that concerns me was anonymous. The piece was 27th August titled “Are times that tough Hayden?” ridiculing and attacking the actor Hayden Panettiere for participating in a Toronto Expo fan gathering where fans are charged money (Oh shock! Oh shame!) in exchange for autographs, signed pictures, and the chance for a bit of face time with their favorite celebrity.

“My dear editor, how does Hayden’s action differ from what you do for much of the content of your “news” paper? There we have celebrities exchanging their name (sometimes willy-nilly, no permission asked), their time, and their pictures in exchange for a bit of publicity for their work. At least the fan shows (such as the current Toronto Expo one) are honest and up front about the exchange. In addition, at these shows both fans and celebrities get some precious small contact with each other as real people. Your paper does not provide that value.

“Yes, you will have to tell me where you think you get off attempting to diminish a young actor who is attempting to reach out to fans in one of the only practical ways provided by the entertainment industry, an industry your paper is a part of and largely dependent on.

“It is particularly shoddy that the author scoffs at Hayden’s lack of “Harry Potter” or “Spiderman” fame while leaving himself unnamed as “Daily Mail Reporter.” Talk about being a parasite! Does Daily Mail Reporter want to shoot down Hayden’s career, just at it’s beginning, and then take a salary for doing so. Seriously, Sir, for shame.

“Eliza Dushku”

And hurrah for her!

Yeah I heard about this letter about the post slamming Hayden. Good for Eliza for standing up to her. Besides, William Shatner charged $80 for an autograph. That's ridiculous!

Yeah it was great of Eliza to stand up for Hayden against those ignorant haters in the media.

Here is a recent interview Eliza did with WEEI, which is the sports station in her hometown along with some news on Eliza guest starring on The Guild:

The Guild Reveals Guest Stars: Zachary Levi, Eliza Dushku, Rick Fox

One very generous and supportive fan of Felicia Day’s hit web series The Guild with a penchant for non-profit organizations that support after-school music programs and a few thousand dollars of disposable income ($3,300 to be exact) will make a cameo appearance in an installment of this Season Five of the gamer-oriented series with mass appeal. He or she will be happy to know he or she will be in good company. A helluva lot of celebrities are making cameo appearances this season, too.

You may have noticed Author Neil Gaiman and original members of the Battlestar Galaticast Richard Hatch and Erin Gray showed up at the Megagame-o-ramacon in last week’s episode. This week’s installment reveals even more of those super secret guest stars Day and company hinted at earlier this year, but have kept hidden all season.

Chuck’s Zachary Levi, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Eliza Dushku and Tom Lenk, Los Angeles Laker and Eliza Dushku’s Rick Fox, Dollhouse’s Dichen Lachman, Eureka’s Colin Ferguson and Amy Berg, Hercules himself Kevin Sorbo and StarWars.com blogger Bonnie Burton all show up in ‘Social Traumas.’

Here’s the setup to whet your geek and entertainment appetites:

Zaboo’s “Seat Savers” reach the breaking point as his Master Chief henchmen confront a big star (special guest Kevin Sorbo). Codex encounters Tink’s secret origins while Bladezz and Vork hobnob with “the fancies” at an exclusive celebrity party.

Those XBox Live and Zune users with access to new episodes of The Guild every Tuesday already know what’s up! The rest of you will see the action for yourselves via MSN, Bing, and WatchTheGuild.com on Thursday. And The Guild isn’t done with their super secret cameo reveals yet. Stay tuned.

Eliza sadly had to cancel her convention appearance in the UK last weekend due to work commitments, however she has been rescheduled to appear at another UK convention in May next year to make up for it. It has not been posted on the event site yet, but it was announced at the convention this weekend, so take my word for it for now:

Starfury Presents - INVA2ION - A 3 day science fiction convention

I`m sorry for our friends in the UK that Eliza wasn`t able to make it, but thankfully for them, she has reschedule for next May.

Also here is some fresh news regarding a guest starring appearance:

If you like fantasy football and no holds barred comedy, you're probably a fan of the FX series The League. In the season premiere of its third season last night, League fans got to meet an infamous character they'd heard a lot about but had never seen: Dirty Randy, played by funnyman Seth Rogen.

We already knew that Rafi's porn-scout pal had created a pun-tastic porno called Sh—er's List, but last night the guys tapped him to play a joke on the ousted Andre by filming a porno in his apartment. The plan, naturally, didn't go well and the guys ended up locked out of the apartment during the all important fantasy draft.

So how did Rogen, who recently wed his longtime girlfriend, land the League gig? "There's a very short list of people who are brilliantly funny and who are going to be a believable porn location scout," co-creator and executive producer Jeff Schaffer told TVGuide.com. "So he was No. 1 on our list." Seattle Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice also appeared in the opening scene of the episode.

Will Forte, Eliza Dushku, and Ray Liotta will also guest star on The League this season. So grab your fantasy football buds and head on over to FX on Thursdays at 10:30/9:30c.

Finally Eliza gets to guest star on an FX show. I think that The League is a good fit for her, especially since she`s a sports fan. Hopefully we`ll get to see her play an avid Patriots fan that is very competitive on the fantasy football league.
