I like when fan fiction writers remember that Buffy was on the honor roll in university and sometimes did better than Willow on assignments. She led group discussions and disagreed with professors and read for leisure.
And they shouldn't give the "she didn't like to study & had bad grades in high school" excuse since Principal Flutie said there was a drop in her gpa at Hemery (proving it was high before she became The Slayer) and we saw her raise that gpa a little each semester (it dips whenever she is extra stressed *Angelus*) at Sunnydale High. Her senior year she comments several times that her grades have improved. It was that plus high SAT score that allowed her to get accepted to Northwestern. She would've needed more than one impressive test score to get into the 13th highest ranked university in the US. I hate when fics make adult Buffy sound like, well, how Willow (somewhat) jokingly described her in Chosen. "Sweet girl, not very bright." |

I'm still looking for a Spuffy fic that really engages me. I'm in the mood for a slow build fic where they hate each other at first. Too many fics have them already secretly in love and don't develop them properly falling for each other. |
They don't actually say she is on the honor roll but given how well we saw her doing in S4 & the first half of S5, it is the logical conclusion. She went to all her classes, she participated, she turned in assignments, she didn't miss tests, the professors knew who she was, and she could debate with Willow on academic subjects.

I'm livetweeting Unreal and it would make a great Spuffy fan fiction.
It is about a woman (Shiri Appleby) that works behind the scenes on one of those Bachelor type reality shows and falls in love with the British Bachelor (who is falling equally in love with her). She is trying to come back from having had a nervous breakdown a few months earlier and he is trying to clean up his image of a womanizer. |

It's a new fave too. Denial by The Enemy of Reality Summary: Forced to be close together for an infinite amount of time, it stands to reason that mortal enemies would drive each other insane. But when it comes to a self-righteous, uptight slayer and an irritating, chipped vampire, there is no reason. This story, set just after S4, is full of banter and innuendo, so read on if you are interested. Also, Riley left to roam the jungle a little early so he isn't in the picture. Complete |
