Spike is the only one out of them all that has seen the best and worst of Buffy.
Season 6 she was at her worst and only he saw it. Spike still loves her flaws and all. It really in the end went both ways. __________________

Not counting all the evil he did. Spike was ready to give up and really did feel he was at his worst in Season 7. __________________

In season seven, he didn't NEED to be with her. He never put pressure on her or asked for anything from her. He was content just to be there, fighting with her. Just being around her and loving her was enough. He was there to be whatever she needed him to be. And that helped their relationship to grow even more, it allowed her to trust him again and fall in love with him properly and honestly. The wrongs of season six, as important as they were to their journey as a couple, were put right and they were able to start again in a much healthier place for them both.
