I feel like even during that time Scoobies were too busy with their own problems to understand Buffy and then Xander gave that ridiculous speach and encouraged Buffy to run after Riley. That was stupid and showed how Xander never really understood Buffy at all.

Oh that speech. I always get So angry when I watch that scene and she listens to him.

The only relationship they were supportive of was the one with Riley.

I feel part of the reason Buffy even stuck it out with him as long as she did is because it's what they expected.

Good point

Maybe Buffy got stuck with Riley for so long even when it became obvious that their relationship was going to nowhere, because that was the only relationship her friends approved of. And she put too much effort into trying to fit into their ideals and prove to them that she can have a successfull relationship.

It was their approval as well she was so concerned about when she was with Spike. She knew they wouldn't have been able to accept it and she was afraid. She could never open up to them and be sure she wouldn't be judged.

It kills me how much she sacrificed for them. They never really appreciated Buffy.

I think Buffy and Cordy had a better bond as well.

Buffy and Cordy was so much wasted potential, I felt like their friendship could have grown very strong and mature because both girls were really misunderstood by many people and were capable of great evolation. They both started out as giggling and a bit shallow cheerleaders and evolved into champions and fighters. Plus never in million years would Cordy kick Buffy out of her own house.

The look they exchanged was so intense. You could see that they both were very confused. But Buffy could see that Spike was different, that something changed.

He just came to help because he knew something was coming. Spike didn't expect to get back together with her.

He didn't push her into anything and even in Touched he waited for her to ask him to stay. Then after that he didn't want to talk to her about that night or make her think she owed him something. He wasn't sure if that night meant anything to her and he wasn't sure he deserved her so he tried to make it seem like that night was a mistake. It was Buffy to first start talking about the meaning of it. Spike was willing to stick around and fight by her side even without being romantically involved with her. He was loyal to her completely without asking anything in return. Unlike Angel who left when he realized they cannot be together Spike sticked around and died for her even without believing that she loved him.

You know I go back and forth about the believing part. I read such good posts interpretating both.

I know, but I think Spike's insecurities were still too strong at that point ot believe her. But even if he did, it doesn't change how selfless his love for her was in S7.

I love their little walk there and how she jumped on him to save him.

I love that quote. It's instinct to save him. I wonder if she would have saved him before Season 6.
