That is so Spuffy.

Deep, heartbreaking, emotional but not sappy, sexy as hell.

I want Spuffy fics of every single scene between them. And all the scenes they aren't in together can be rewritten in fics so that they are.

I love that with Spuffy, you can enjoy them at any stage and even when they are in a bad place you love it so much. You love the unhealthy, you love the hurt.

I can see Spike admitting that having Angel watch would be payback for Drusilla but that the kiss itself was just something he always wanted to do.

I wanted more episodes of Buffy in outfits like the one she wore in LW. She looked so messy but so sexy and like a Slayer.

And it was a sad day when Spike stopped wearing that red shirt.

Here endeth the lesson.

Okay… I don’t really know how to start this. I have too many emotions. The part where Buffy and Spike are in front of Buffy’s house after forming their uneasy alliance, and when Spike says ‘You mean she doesn’t know?’ And Buffy, not being able to admit to her mother makes up a cover story about being in a band and looks at Spike for back up. And I don’t know why, I love how Spike just plays along with the made up band lie. Then when they fight the vampires in front of Joyce and after slaying them - the way Buffy talks to Spike! I mean, they talk to each other like they’re friends! Does anyone else get what I’m trying to say? And the moment when Joyce questions her about what’s going on, my ultimate favourite moment is when Buffy looks at Spike and he kind of gives her an understanding look. They’re meant to be mortal enemies! I sincerely love the fact that Joyce finding out about her daughter being a vampire slayer is such a big moment in Buffy’s life. It’s an important moment. And It’s Spike whose there to witness this particular happening. It kind of foreshadowed the later seasons.. the fact that its Spike that’s always been there for the major parts of Buffy’s life. I find this moment significant because its not Giles, or Willow or Xander or Angel that’s there when Joyce finds out, its Spike. Kind of puts things into perspective, doesn’t it? It’s always going to be Spike.

Spike was there when she tells her mum about being a slayer, Spike was there when she was about to kill Angelus. Spike was there when Buffy and Angel were being all ‘googly eyed at each other’, Spike was there when Buffy found out about Captain Cardboard, Spike was there when Joyce died, Spike was there when Buffy died, Spike was there when Buffy was resurrected, Spike was there when Buffy told him about being in heaven and not hell. Spike was there when Buffy was frustrated and felt wrong in life. Spike was there all through season seven, and didn’t leave her. Spike was there even when The First told Andrew that it still had plans for Spike. Buffy told him to stay and he stayed. When the Scoobies kicked Buffy out, it was Spike that was there for her. When Buffy turned from Chosen One to One of the Chosen, Spike was there. The destruction of the hellmouth, the final battle, Spike was there. The whole Twilight thing, and the breaking of the seed, Spike was there and he defended her. Buffy finding out she was pregnant, she told Spike - because he’s the one that’s there. Not Angel, Spike. I think I made my point pretty clear here. deep breath

I want to say I agree 100%.

But he left her for 2 years and in that time he didn't tell her he was alive and had sex with other women even though Buffy was single and could've really benefited with having him in her life again.

Spike lost his place as the man that is always there for her thanks to AtS S5. Why does AtS find ways to ruin everything? It has it's moments but no character is safe because eventually the storylines will change them and make them have WTF thoughts and do WTF things.

I love that Spike was there when Joyce found out again. The look Buffy gave him when he said "triangle." Seriously? Triangle? I wonder what he thought of her first choice being the drums. He always saw her fire but I don't think he yet knew of her wild messy side. That a girl like Buffy may always do what she thinks is right but that doesn't make her a wallflower or voiceless eye candy that plays the triangle while others rock out. If she is on stage she will be on stage. She doesn't do things half way.

I love that he went with her lie about the band instead of pulling one over on her and trying to get her mum to believe that they were doing drugs or drinking or having lots of sex. Or that he was in a band and she was his groupie. "Come on, Summers. Have some respect for dear old mum. She can handle the truth. Buffy was with me. In my flat. My bed to be more specific."

I love how they could lie together and then take on that vamp together and then talk shop like they'd been on the same side for years. That wasn't relunctant allies. That was natural partners.

Buffy could've had Spike go around back. But instead she lets him in her house. She invites him in. She leaves him alone with her mother. She has him sitting on the couch like a suitor waiting to take her out on the town. And he does wait. He doesn't roll his eyes and look around the Slayer's place with disgust. He makes polite conversation. He waits until she is off the phone despite it being mostly about hearing her friend is okay and updating others.

Spike thought he could be who he used to be once he had Angelus out of the picture and Drusilla to himself again. It is why he was going to let Buffy die. He wanted to stop Angelus from hurting her. It wasn't that he wanted to be the one to do it. It was that he genuinely saw her in trouble and wanted to stop it. But he spent months feeling weak and returning to whipped Willie who is half the monster as the sadistic Angelus.

I think it says a lot that even though he left in Becoming #2, his mind and whatever spark is there instead of a soul, stayed behind. He couldn't stop thinking about Buffy. Wanting to go back.

At least unlike the other men in Buffy's life it took him turning to dust to leave her.

I love all those things too. You always write such thought out posts.

This always cracks me up.

Buffy: ‘He threw me out? He threw me. Did I, like, fall into some … backward dimension here? Is this Bizarro World? *kicks the can again* And after he’s always going on and on about being the only one that understands me. ‘We’re alike, you and me. Birds of a bloody feather.’ Uh! He’s so ..’

I love how they rant about each other. No other character does it in that way. You hear other people say mean things about others or twist the facts to make themselves look like the victim. But it's not like that with Spike & Buffy. They just rant. It's adorable. And there voices even sound the same. They start talking faster.

Buffy mimicking his accent. You know she had to love it.

I love that she kicked the can. She really wanted more sex with Spike. She wanted to get lost in the thrusting and riding and orgasms. She couldn't believe that in that moment she was the horny one and he was the sensible one that wanted to talk and connect.

I can imagine him saying the same thing with the "She's so---" He would want to rant about how even when he gets what he wants he doesn't really. Things never work that way for Spike. Birds of a bloody feather and she wants to pretend all he's good for is a shag. I'm the only one that understands her but she won't let me in. Guarding that ticker longer than she did her sweet supply thighs. And mouth. Oh god, that mouth. He'd be in shock too. "I threw her out. I threw her out?!"

I wonder how we got from there to DMP and Spike wanting sex again.

Because he craved her just as much as she craved him. Because he realized that it broke his heart more having only half of her but it was unbearable having none of her.

He could still cause Buffy pain for breaking his heart and making him feel so weak but he couldn't deny her, he couldn't walk away from her, he couldn't watch her go to bed alone knowing that she could be in his bed. He could hold on to his righteous stance after having just had sex with her, but when he can't feel her warmth on him anymore and all he has is her haunting scent and the memories of what they did....

I don't think that he could stand another minute without making love to her. Seeing her in that hideous orange outfit, taking off that stupid cow chicken hat in embarassment, smelling of failure and sadness and need, it made him love her all the more.

Smashed was out of desperate passion. Wrecked was out of lingering arousal. Gone was that last puff before quitting. DMP was because they both knew neither was really in control and though they wanted different things they both wanted. They were both being weak. But they were being weak together. Like the poster behind them said. Teamwork.

I love how desperate they were for each other. The way they couldn't control their passion and when they kissed it was like they were trying to devour each other. See my icon.

I know it was an unhealthy relationship but it really wasn't that simple. Both were lost and drowning. Spike really was Buffy's life line. He made a lot of mistakes but I think he would have handled things different if he had his soul back then. At that point Spike was trying to be good and it was like Buffy was his moral compass but because she was lost. It made him lost too. Their relationship is the most complex that I've ever seen. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. I'm not excusing or saying their relationship Season 6 was ok just the reasons that it was the way is was. I do not excuse the AR. I also don't think it was OOC for Spike and made sense as a catalyst for him getting his soul back. He lost control and when he realized what he was doing was horrified. It was doing something like that hurt Buffy that really was the only thing that would make him realize he didn't want to be a monster anymore.

That made me think of that line when he is ranting about how just because Buffy is confused about where she fits in he's supposed to be too and how he's not and knows who he is. But he didn't and it is so true that he became evil because of Drusilla but wanted to come back to good because of Buffy but the place she was taking them and him was something else entirely. She felt like she wasn't human anymore but lost her purpose as the Slayer and he couldn't go back to being human no matter how hard he tried but he wasn't the monster he had tried so hard to be. If she hadn't of been where she was and had loved him then the way she does in late S7/onwards then he would've been selfless and good to her and been able to change even quicker into the man he was meant to be.

I love that they were both drowning. They both felt dead and they both ignited a spark in the other and they both blamed the other for that "it's killing me" feeling.

I agree that it wasn't OOC at all. He wasn't trying to be violent. He wasn't trying to hurt her. He wasn't trying to punish her. He wasn't just wanting sex. He didn't even truly realize at first that his forcing her to have sex with him was rape. He just kept thinking, "I can't go through this anymore. I can't love you. It hurts too much. You say you don't love me but you did when we made love. I know you did." All of his dialogue pointed towards him just wanting her to remember how she felt emotionally for him when they were having sex. You'll feel it again Buffy. I'm going to make you feel it. Just let yourself love me.

I was recently watching a fan vid and it had a slow motion clip of Spike kissing her forehead during the AR. That isn't something you do when you are thinking about forcing someone IMO. Nothing excuses what he did. The thing that matters is that when he realized what he was doing it killed him So much that he went to fight for a soul. If he really wanted to rape Buffy then he could have kept going after her but didn't.

I had a link open that had a list of the best Spuffy blogs on Tumblr and closed it by accident.
