Yay! Piccies!

OMG. Yes, that scene in IOHEFY was incredibly sexy. And so intense. The way Angelus sort of slowly pulls back and looks at her a minute, as if he was debating kissing her again and then abruptly pushes her away. I wonder sometimes if it was annoyance at her saying Angel's name right then instead of Angelus?

Ooh, very astute Jacqui. I had never really considered that, but now that you mention it. It totally makes sense. He was *so* in the moment. And I think the fact that he wasn't who she wanted, made him angry. I think he feels inferior to "Angel" in many ways.

Oh, man the complexity of it all, I just love it. Seriously I feel like I could write a major thesis on this one aspect of the show.

You wouldn't be the first fan to do that I don't think.

I know at least one of the Babbler's from Ducks Babble Board wrote her thesis on Buffy and Angel.

You know the other scene that has always bothered me somewhat? Or I should say puzzled me since I totally adore it, but it always struck me as sort of... interesting. In Passion when Angelus just sits and watches Buffy sleep. I mean...like Cordelia said in her incredibly tactless manner the next day "why didn't he just slit her throat?". I think that scene really clearly showed the depth of Angelus' confusion and obsession. Like someone said before, Angelus loved Buffy because Angel loved her. The Demon had been "infected" with the soul's emotions and therefore hated Buffy for it. So, it's like Miranda said. Angelus hated Buffy because he loved her.

In his own sick, twisted way of course.

I think Willow summed it up best:

"You're still the only thing he thinks about."

Rigth on! That is exactly what it was between those two. Angelus wanted her but he wasn't supposed to but Buffy got to him and that's why he hated her at the same time. WOW! Could they be any hotter!

Can I just say ITA! Angelus was evil, everyone knew that and he wasn't supposed to feel anything so it should have been easy for him to kill Buffy. Like in Becoming, he had his chnace if he had really wanted to but he didn't. He loved her, wheter he liked it or not.

Yup. That's why I love that scene so much. Well said!

I believe her calling him "Angel" pulled him out of the moment and made him realize what he was doing. And maybe he did deep down want her to recognize who she really was kissing.

Thanks for the pictures. So true with what all of you have said. The way he kind of wanted her but then despised her even more for making him feel that way.

What does that have to do with what we're talking about?

I don't mean to be a jerk, but Spike really doesn't add into this thread so please keep him out in terms of Buffy and the thing they had, if that was your intention. B/Aus isn't anything like them.

I wonder what would have happened if Angelus did decide he was going to have her.

He always fought it before. She'd try and fight it but she'd give in I think. I can just imagine what would happen.

And yes, Spike and Buffy had their moments as enemies, but I don't really think they ever lived up to the utter vehemence of the hatred between Buffy and Angelus. I think because it was hatred coloured by unwilling love.

Also: the vampire just looked so damn hot in leather pants.
