Only in a movie could a serial killer sneaking into your bedroom and chopping off your hair while you slept make you look even prettier.

I wonder if there was a story with her hair when she was little. Maybe like Rachel from Friends she got it caught on the swing chains and had to have it cut. Or maybe she was the only one in her kindergarten class not to get lice. Or maybe she won "best hair" in some contest and that started her love of competing in beauty pageants.

Do you think Helen had an eating disorder? Or wanted to see a therapist but in that small town it was still considered only for "crazy people" and "bleeding democrats"?

I wonder if her smoking was because she saw Old Hollywood starlets doing it and she wanted to be just like them or if it was due to nerves. Some people use cigarettes to calm themselves. Apparently they provide a toxic but soothing fix.

I know some people that are 70 lbs overweight that have eating disorders.

But no, I don't think Helen had one. Other than the regular stupidity of drinking diet soda cans. "Diet" has aspartame which causes seizures and diet drinks mess with digestion which can cause you to gain weight despite it being lower calorie. And if someone is really trying to lose a few then they shouldn't drink carbonated beverages even if they are going to pour it into a cup.

But she might've been on her way to other neurosis. Her fixation with her hair. The smoking. The dynamic between her and her sister Elsa.

She still could've had a toxic relationship with food or been obsessed with cardio or something. Her appearance was obviously very important to her.
